Listening this morning, alan Jones interviewing israel folou who is raising 3 million dollars from public donations for his legal fees against rugby Australia for unfair dismissal. This morning Israel said his fight is because of his strong Faith , beliefs in the bible that has made him who he is today. Now personally ive nothing against him what so ever, but he mentions to jones very strongly the importance of the bible again on which he lives by , which he comes to as we all know his public condemnation for many sinners who eventually will end up in hell . Can those out there who is familiar with the bible tell me if Israel is 100% correct to pass judgement based on his beliefs ? Here is one quote , but is there another side ?

Just using scrutiny and going where the logic of truth takes me.
Must always get past all beliefs otherwise we remain trapped in them.
Filtering all information through predetermined belief systems will have you keep what fits in with them while disregarding everything else.
Have nothing to do with Eastern Mysticism - the occults,
The good news of the bible is that we’ve all blown it and God has made a way for us to have friendship with him and that’s by accepting what Jesus did at the cross and asking him to guide our life.
The original scripture that Israel quoted was written to existing believers but could apply to any of us. Further to that scripture it says there is not one righteous by our own works. The scripture he quoted on Instagram does not mention hell but that those who behave those ways won’t receive the kingdom of God.
The scripture you have quoted above speaks about David before he defeated Goliath and became King. God saw his heart and knew his thoughts intimately. He knew David trusted him and followed his word. Equally for all of us God sees the real us (our hearts) buried beneath what we show others. He knows all our thoughts and how corrupted they can be and yet he says we love because he first loved us. God is absolutely committed to restoring relationship back to all who will accept it.
Hell is the place where God isn’t.
Not a bad story , but I prefer Snow White and the seven dwarfs
NzEel. While this is a late post, it is the second one as the original did not get through, still out in cyber space or somewhere.
Firstly, the concept that you speak of that is through the crucifction of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross is not about freindship, its totally about His sacrifice for everyone who believes in Him and turns back to God following the breaking of the relationship with the first rebellion/disobediench of doing things their way. Relationship with each other is a totally different and deeper area of ones life than just freindship.
You are correct in saying that the verses quoted by Folou do not mention Hell as such, but it certainly implies that aspect regarding the different destination that will be where all people go at the end of their earthly lifes. Thing to realise that implication is real and there are many references to that in the Bible, both OT and NT.
The verses I quoted are NT not OT where you are mistaken as David had his own issues by committing adultery with a married woman, and arranged to have her husband Uriah murdered by placing him in an untenable position as the leader of his troops in a battle in order to justify his act and then taking Bathsheba as his wife, the child from the their act was still born as a result to show them they had commited an offence against God.
The Corinthians reference brings the aspect of the Church in Corinth into the equation as it was a Church that the apostle Paul founded and was a very strong Church until they went they own way and was a divided Church and the reason for the letter. The whole of 1 Corinthians addresses those issues in 3 seperate and distinct ways owing to how Paul found out about them, the first part of the letter is a prologue and greetings to the Church as is Pauls normal way in his letters but in the same first chapter after that prologue he begins his attempts at correcting the Church in 3 parts.
Firstly from Ch 1:10 to the end of Chapter 4 he is addressing the divisions that had formed in the Church that he had been told about by some members of the Church in fact from a specific household in the Church who had reported about those divisions that existed.
Secondly the next part of the letter from Ch 5 through to the end of Ch 6 he addresses a specific report that he had received regarding the events that were going on there, more especially the sexual immorality that was going on and of such nature that even the Pagans do not do. Yet they were boasting about their spirituality.
Thirdly, From Ch 7 until the end of the letter Paul addresses the concerns that were overwhelming the Church as a result of a letter he received from them. Such was the immorarality going on that we find Paul talking right in the beginning of this section about living a celibrate live, rather than that, he speaks about the relationship of having their own wife, and living in right relationship with her. Paul chose to live a celibrate life owing to his own choice.
When talking about God's love, its more than simple worldy motives, and your last short sentence is in many ways the key, its about relationship restored to its original intended order, not as its seen in this day and age. I would suggest though that most do not see how great God's love really is as found in this old Hymn
The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.
Refrain
Oh, love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure—
The saints’ and angels’ song
refrain
When hoary time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call,
God’s love so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam’s race—
The saints’ and angels’ song
Refrain.
Oh, love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure—
The saints’ and angels’ song
Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.
My perspective of this situation is as follows.
Israel is preaching - or telling us in the public domain - nothing more or less than what a Christian Priest says at mass.
Israel is like wise preaching ,also, what is taught in every Christian School in Australia.
These Christian School support Rugby Union but the Rugby Union , publicy, dont support the teachings of the Christian Faith. I consider this to be a huge slap in the face for the Christian Faith.
Yep. 'Tis rude as fuck. Hell is the punishment Folau articulates. Not public stoning. If you don't believe in stoning, the stones still fuck you up. But Hell, not so much. If yo not a christian, he is threatening you with fairy tales. So....stop whining people. All that drunken fornication wont do itself
