Parramatta have axed forward Nathan Brown for Saturday's clash with the Roosters, with the Eels also recently informing the lock forward that he doesn't have a long-term future at the club.

Sources with knowledge of the situation told the Herald that Brown will be dropped from Parramatta’s 17 after the team’s dismal showing against arch-rivals Canterbury on Monday. It opens the door for 22-year-old Ky Rodwell to play his second game in the NRL.

The Eels informed Brown's management that he wasn't part of their plans. The club have also given Brown formal permission to begin negotiating with rival clubs at his management's request.

While Brown still has 18 months to run on his deal with the Eels, the Herald has been told the club is willing to release him earlier if he managed to land a contract elsewhere.

Brown has told those close to him that he wants to stay at the Eels and wants to win a competition with the team he joined in 2017.

Cowboy's played well and deserved to win.

2. We cannot continue with JA in the 17 or for that matter the 21

3. BA has essentially split this team up with his approach to playing JA. Did anyone notice the Moses interview after the game "he was ropable" does anyone understand why? He was essentially replaced by JA playing the 7 role and him playing somewhere in the centres and 5/8. Note this all happened in the first half.....the key breakdowns and fuck ups all centred around JA's involvement, even if he did nothing particularly wrong....he was just there and showed that he could not handle the job....shovelling it out like we did the previous week is essentially the game plan Cowboys expected. Todd Paynton knew this and instructed his team to play in the middle and keep it tight.

4. The first half Parra had say 6 chances to score and Cowboys 2. The Cowboys executed their opportunities pefectly, both those tries were not defendable. All ours fell down through poor execution. 15-0 was not a true indication.

5. Second half Moses came back into playing the 7 and JA disappeared, I don't think Dylan Brown hardley touched it in the first half....second half we had two tries disallowed that should have been scored, Lane fumble over the line and I cannot remember who was involved with the second....anyway the score could have been 15-12 and game on.

6. Because we didn't score the points we played catch up, Cowboys were energised at the real prospect of winning whereas they may have taken the gas at 15-12.

7. Letting in those last 3 tries was embarrassing, some ordinary one on one misses and no cover defence, DB is in the front line, he is our cover defence, JA tried hard but so does my 20 month old grandson.

So summary is we cannot win many games with this current squad and the realisation for BA is to have different plans for different sides, Feldt is not a great winger and has errors in him but with good execution inside him he is pretty good. No better than ours, some people believe Pereham was exposed/showed up.....I don't believe that, he was ok....its just like riding a bike and we had one link broken, fucks the whole ride.

BA will not be sacked and arguably we have no one better for the sake of what we are learning at this point in time. If JA is not playing next game and we have Marata back in the centres, we can still beat Panthers, no chance otherwise.

Finally some good news, if no one has said it already....The Brisbane press made a statement that JA has been offered to Storm, presumably for next year but we could start a petition to have him go now. It would be best for everyone with the possible exception of Storm.

I have tried to rationalise this blog into something coherent given all the vendetta's and wasted words on BA , create a platform of analysing where we went to and create room for what ever fixes can practically be applied.

PS and note, I didn't need to mention the word nepotism in the whole blog.

Transgender athlete reveals moment coach outed her to her teamhttps://www.1eyedeel.com/forum/topics/transgender-athlete-reveals-moment-coach-outed-her-to-her-team2022-04-19T05:40:53.000Z2022-04-19T05:40:53.000ZBrownyhttps://www.1eyedeel.com/members/Browny685

Paul Kent hinted at a story along these lines a couple weeks ago.

Caroline Layt understands, more than most, the importance of trans women being allowed to compete in professional sport.

At the age of just four, Ms Layt started playing rugby league on her brother’s team — one of a myriad of sports, including cricket and athletics, she competed in as a male — at first grade and state level — for the 26 years before she transitioned.

It was a “hyper-masculine” environment to be immersed in, yet she “knew from a very early age” that she was transgender, Ms Layt told news.com.au, despite the fact she “tried to fit in and be one of the boys”.

Throughout her years at an all-male, Catholic boarding school, she “always was wistful” when, in her uniform, she’d see female students “and think, ‘God, I wish I was like them’”.

“So sport was pretty important to me, because it allowed me to forget I was different,” she explained.

Which is why Ms Layt — who continued a successful career in sport post-transition, and appears on tonight’s episode of SBS’s Insight to discuss the matter — stands in opposition to Tasmanian Liberal senator Claire Chandler’s so-called “Save Women’s Sport” bill.

<img class="responsive-img_img inline-image ls-is-cached lazyloaded" src="https://content.api.news/v3/images/bin/9d637c71f99528f5af3e2d261d515eed" alt="Caroline Layt “knew from a very early age” that she was transgender, despite the fact she “tried to fit in and be one of the boys”. Melbourne were not at full strength. Most people (fans and commentators alike) have forgotten that Harry Grant was not playing. This kid single handedly pulled apart the NSW defense in the final game of SOO last year, and a major reason to why the tigers won so many games last year. He would have had a much bigger impact on Thursdays game than Mahoney.

2. Edge defense. We don't appear to have learnt from last years sins unfortunately, and we cant sugar coat the loss of Jennings. And Opacic is still very much a work in progress. Niukore did a formidable job on Olam but he was exposed at times even on a wet track. Gutherson was also tremendous as our last line.

3. The wet weather worked in our favour. This stifled Addo-Car and Papenhuizen in attack. One wonders if whether both their breaks would have lead to tries. Also Olam may have had better success attacking a second rower.

4. Sivo scoring two tries off bombs against a smaller average winger. I felt sorry for George Jennings but Sivo was up against a sub par edge with R.Smith and G.Jennings. I may get a bit more excited if he can replicate his same feat in 2019, or repeat that performance against better opposition like a Tupou or a Ravalawa. Also I'm sure Bellamy will fix this edge throughout the year.

5. Assistant coaches. I must admit that i am an outsider - and have no basis on making this claim. But it appears to me that whilst Arthur may be a good head coach we lack power in assistant coaches. I am not a fan of David Kidwell since we can never seem to match the defensive prowess of a Melbourne, Roosters, Raiders or even Sharks. Some of these teams have the worst individual defenders (e.g Josh Hodgson) but as a unit they are trained to be impenetrable. It worries me that even with our calibre of players we still allow teams to run around us.

I hope they can prove me wrong. I will still be going to every game and living every try and big tackle. But history has taught me to approach every year with cautious optimism.

Eels for life

Will We Part With Moses? I know the need for speed has increased with the new 6 again rule, but holy fuck. FUCK OFF, if you want to move King Gutho from fullback. I personally believe he has been the best player this year behind Nathan Cleary, and I expect this to be shown through the Dally M. With Sivo's lack of involvement, I dont see French playing wing because than our outside backs will be making barely any running meters. I have never seen French play centre, and I highly doubt he would suit this position. French can play five-eight but I see D Brown as our future. His peformance for a 19/20 year old half is better than the likes of Cronk, Cleary and that age. Moving D Brown to halfback and B French do five-eight wouldnt happen because Brown is still to young to lead a team around and we would also have a terrible kicking game. Plus, I think the club want to back Moses for at least another year.

P.S I do like French but I can't see him making the starting 13. He could possible be used as a 14 and play the super sub role that Papenhyuzen did when he first started playing for the storm last year.

Thoughts?

New Best player in the game??https://www.1eyedeel.com/forum/topics/new-best-player-in-the-game2020-08-10T08:13:16.000Z2020-08-10T08:13:16.000ZEAhttps://www.1eyedeel.com/members/Electric_Analysis

According to NRL journalist Buzz Rothfield Keary an Cleary are the best players in the world, overtaking James Tedesco.

Personally, I believe Nathan Cleary is probably playing the best footy out of everyone, but it doesnt mean he is the best player in the world. To hold this accolade you have to be performing above everyone for a couple years not just 14 games. Secondly, Cleary hasnt proved himself yet in any finals series. While he played origin, he just did his job in those games rather than be a key player. In my opinion Cameron Smith is still the best player in the game as much as I hate him. They way he manages his fowards close to the try line and than play second receiver is incredible. Followed by him are Cameron Munster and Tom Trobjevic (when fit) and than Keary and Tedesco. I believe Munster does everything Keary can do, but has more x-factor in his running game. Not taking anything away from Keary as well, the players around him make him look better than he truely is (still one of the best players in the game IMO though). From Trobjecvic and Tedesco, I believe Tedesco has a better tackle breaking ability however Trobjevic passing game, aerial ability and try saving tackles are superior than Tedesco.

Thoughts?

Sorry, Smithy: Laurie Daley’s shock pick as NRL’s best player this yearhttps://www.1eyedeel.com/forum/topics/sorry-smithy-laurie-daley-s-shock-pick-as-nrl-s-best-player-this-2020-07-28T02:04:04.000Z2020-07-28T02:04:04.000ZEl patrón MDVhttps://www.1eyedeel.com/members/VinceFrenchythechampion

July 28, 2020 9:44am

by STAFF WRITERS

Source:

FOX SPORTS

Cameron Smith is 37 years old, is the NRL’s games record holder, and has been outstanding in season 2020 as he guides Melbourne towards another finals series.

But he’s been snubbed by league great Laurie Daley who named his top five performers in the competition after 11 rounds.

Daley unveiled his list on Big Sports Breakfast on Monday and Smith came in at No.3, while Roosters superstar Luke Keary was even further down the list.

In No.1 spot is a selection some people would find surprising... but Daley’s reasoning is hard to argue with.

Here’s what Daley said about his top five.

5. The meeting provided us with the opportunity to outline our positions and discuss next steps to navigate this crisis.

"We are both focused on the long-term success of the game and, while there is more work to do, I am optimistic we will find a way through this together. Our next meeting, where we will endeavour to construct a road map for the game this year, must include Foxtel CEO Patrick Delany."

The Herald has been told by sources with knowledge of the meeting that Nine also expressed its preference to wipe the 2020 season, in stark contrast to V'landys' push for a May 28 restart. The end result could fall somewhere in the middle.

Nine doesn't want to walk away from the game. It wants a two-year extension, but under different terms and for less than the $110 million it currently pays the governing body each year.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the NRL has been unable to deliver on the product its broadcasters had expected as part of a $1.8 billion rights deal over five years. The NRL has enacted the force majeure clause after being left with no choice but to breach its contract with its broadcast partners.

None of the parties involved wants to see the matter head to court, hence the renegotiation that's about to take place between V'landys, Marks and Delany.

V'landys is a realist. It's unlikely the NRL will deliver all of its promised content this year, and the world in which $1.8 billion rugby league broadcast deals are done may no longer exist.

Foxtel has recently made moves to lower its cost base. Only last week it made 200 staff redundant and stood down another 140 employees until the end of June.

Right now Fox Sports broadcasts all eight games, three of which are simulcast with Nine and five exclusive matches.

Changing the structure to suit Nine would also benefit Fox. The fact it has only six exclusive games is unlikely to impact on the number of subscribers - which underpins its business - but will mean it can reduce the $190 million it currently pays for the rights to all eight games.

Under that scenario, both both Fox and Nine win. They want to pay less. The NRL might not be quite as happy with the result but it gets the security of a deal for at least another two years in a climate that is providing very little certainty.

The NRL had been holding out hope of extracting more than $1.8bn in the 2023-2027 rights deal.
