Hey PT, didn't realise you grew up in Guildford as well. We were in Milner Road where  were you?

It sure has. I live in Melbourne now but had to go to a funeral recently for an old friend. Boy Guildford shopping strip is almost unrecognisable.

He was regularly nominated as the hardest player to tackle in player polls. When I was a young boy living in Guildford, our milkman was Bruce Mann, Phil's dad. He was a front rower in the very early days of Parra, I think even the first year in 1947. He would deliver milk in the morning wearing his old Parra jumpers and I used to get a kick out of seeing this. My dad made friends with Bruce There were times when Bruce would be assisted in delivery by a young, very tall blond man who no doubt was Phil. I guess that's how I started following him more closely than others.
I also recall being told by a mate who played at Guildford there was a very talented kid called Brett Kenny who would be sitting on the bench in u23's. it took a few weeks before he got a run but at Kograh one day he finally got a chance. He got asked to hang around to be a reserve for reserve grade that day because of injury and again got a game and scored a try. The rest is just glorious history. Kenny probably my all time favourite Eel

Nah mate, Phil was one of my favourites. When he was on his game he was fantastic. When he was off he was terrible.
