Justin Poore (born 26 January 1985) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer for the Parramatta Eels of the NRL. A New South Wales State of Origin representative prop or second-row forward.

Playing career

While attending Endeavour Sports High School in 2002, Poore was selected to play for the Australian Schoolboys team.[2]

In August, 2008, Poore was named in the preliminary 46-man Kangaroos squad for the 2008 Rugby League World Cup.[3][4]

He was selected for Country in the City vs Country match on 8 May 2009.[5]

In May 2009, he was named to make his Origin debut in the 17 man squad to represent New South Wales in the opening State of Origin match on 3 June 2009, in Melbourne.[6] He has reportedly signed with the Parramatta Eels on a deal worth $350,000 a season, starting in 2010.

He was one of only four NSW players who played in all 3 games of the 2009 Origin series, the others being Jarryd HayneKurt Gidley and Ben Creagh.

Hope Rwanda charity

In the 08/09 off-season, Poore and a group of NRL players led by former first grader and ABC commentator Paul Osborne travelled to Rwanda on behalf of the Hope Rwanda charity, where they helped build 60 cement-rendered homes and a community hall. Poore plans to raise more money for the charity and travel to Rwanda again after the 2009 season.[7]
