Parramatta are currently fourth. A loss next week could drop us to fifth. In order to be 3rd we'll need to beat the rabbits and the cows to beat the broncos. Both are possible and realistic.

1. We will be in Sydney for the Qualifying final. This means that Eels will have some sort of support. Especially as 4th place will play in Melbourne which is a fortress.

2. We need to show ourselves that we can match the Roosters. Last time we played them we got flogged by around 40 points. Eels have certainly grown as a squad since then and mentally a win/close loss will show the team that we have really improved

3. Being 3rd is a lot more impressive than being 4th. It gives our team a massive boost knowing that they have gone from 7th in round 20 to 3rd after round 26. It also gives a good headspace if they match up with the Broncos later in the finals knowing they were above them on the ladder as well as two good victories

These are my thoughts. I'm not saying 3rd will guarantee a final but I reckon we have no chance unless we finish 3rd

  • There's always a chance no matter where you finish. Remember the Eels made the Grand Final from 8th position in 2009 and would have won it except for the cheating Storm!
  • I would much prefer to face Melbourne in the first and last week of the finals than in the third week!!
  • Totally agree Brett. Would rather face them while we are on a roll.

  • Yep agree but I'm not sure about winning the first one.
If we make the GF I'm sure we'll give it a red hot go.
  • Totally agree Brett.

  • No way I'd much rather finish 4th are you crazy? We play Melbourne week 1 then don't have to see them again until the final, we finish 3rd we play the roosters who we struggle against then if we get past week 2 we'll eventually have to play Melbourne in the prelim final. Where on the other side of the draw we potentially could face Brisbane in the prelim and we all know how we've dominated them this year.
  • I don't care who we play 1st as long it not Melbourne at Melbourne to hard to beat with the crowd on there side and the NRL and REF

    • If we finished 3rd and Melbourne finished 1st and both teams won week 1. We would not meet them until the grand final unless I am mistaken
  • Agreed.

If we beat them, then we will have the confidence to take out the GF.

If we narrowly lose to them, the boys will get then confidence we can match and beat them.

IF we get smashed, BA will put his foot up all their ass with the boys fired up to get payback if we meet them again in the GF.

  • Agree Browny --- first week is THE week to play Melbourne.
I reckon we can take them, but if we don't there have been others who have lost their first semi and gone on to take the title.
    Bring 'em on!!!
