Thurston, they both have great passing games, both have great kicking games, Thurston has a better running game, Johns was a better defender but Thurston always competes and does so at every level of the game from club games to origin to test matches.
Johns could do it all. Break the line, put big poppers on their bum, control the game, fire up his team and kick goals. Newcastle barely won a game when he wasnt playing. Credit though to Thurston for his toughness being such a small annoying f@&ker all those years playing for Qld

Johns is my pic if i were to pick one
Johns was better skilled and had greater vision.
Thurston is the better competitor and doesn't give up. For this reason I'd take Thurston over Joey.

Its a very tough choice thats for sure.
When faced with this question i can only try and think who'd come out on top playing against each other.
Maybe Johns just but its almost a dead heat.
They played against each other at club level 5 times with Thurston's side winning three of those matches to Johns' two.
At representative level Johns won both their matches, Games 2 and 3 of the 2005 Origin series.
Unfortunately I think Johns
Depends on how many and what drug Johns was on. Would have been as good as his Bro, but loaded up on drugs,
