Its not the actual losing a game that is a concern its the way it was lost. The coach summed it up very well in his words
“We gave them back to back sets, especially the last twenty minutes of that first half, they had four or five sets in a row and that’s what we have been doing to opposition the last two weeks; strangling them.” Arthur added.
“They did it to us and they gave us a lesson in completing and playing a nice disciplined game.”
When ill discipline comes into play it becomes a contagious disease and spreads very fast or in an instant which happened on Friday, 20 minutes on the mark and then on the mat.
Norman will be a leader whether he is the official captain or not.
We have been lacking quality on field leadership for a long time
Maybe Corey is starting to be able to provide this - we will see
Apart from leadership neither Mannah or Scott should be the ones talking to the ref.
BTW Mannah and Scott are great leaders of the forwards but I don't think either should be team leader
The hard aspect of whoever is captain or whoever is leader can and should be one and the same but often that does not happen. The concept of the co captains I doubt has really worked with the use of forwards only unless they are 80 minute players and how many these days are 80 minute players?
Both Mannah and Scott are inspirational on the field in what they do, but they are often both off the field at the same time, who then takes over, when they both were off the field on Friday night who was the captain? The ideal captain should be an 80 minute player, but which one generally in the forwards we have would be Ma'u or a hooker.
Outside of Norman which of the backs would or could be co captain?
