Warriors release Inu to join Bulldogs

Warrior Krisnan Inu has been granted an immediate release to join NRL rivals Canterbury.

Inu, who has struggled to hold down a first grade spot with the Warriors since his move from Parramatta at the end of 2010, has signed with the Bulldogs until the end of the 2015 season.

Warriors chief executive Wayne Scurrah says the Bulldogs sought an immediate release because of an injury crisis among their wingers.

While the 25-year-old Inu was contracted until the end of 2013, the Warriors wouldn't stand in his way and had agreed to let him go now, Scurrah said on Thursday.

Despite playing in two of the past three grand finals - with Parramatta in 2009 and the Warriors last season - the talented New Zealand international has struggled in the top grade.

He has spent much of this season playing with the Warriors' feeder club the Auckland Vulcans.

Bulldogs coach Des Hasler welcomed the Inu signing.

"The Bulldogs are excited to have a player of Krisnan Inu's pedigree at the club," Hasler said.

"Krisnan is an international player and his arrival comes off the back of an horrific run of injuries in our outside backs.

"We certainly think Krisnan's arrival will help fill that void."

Inu said he was looking forward to joining the Bulldogs.

"It's come about sooner than expected due to circumstances and everything has happened quickly over the last couple of days but I'm thankful for the opportunity," he said.

"I appreciate what the Warriors have done in letting me go now, giving me the chance to play NRL.

"I want to thank everyone at the club for what they've done for me. I've enjoyed my time here."

The Bulldogs meet the Roosters at Allianz Stadium in round 12 NRL action and if Inu is a late inclusion for the visitors it will be his 100th NRL game.

  • Taha is right.
Look what Dessie did to TREX - not that Inu can be compared to the man monster.
  • this shows SK lack on insight into player talents.......INU may at times make errors but the guy is a freak!!!! the dogs will probably win the comp this year......... SK ure a dill !!!!!!

    • Give me a break.

Inu's been cut loose by his last two clubs - and one of those was the Eels. The standard of his performances at the Warriors were worse than those he put with us! He has spent much of his time in New Zealand playing with the Vulcans, and he's not demonstrated any desire to change that.

His attitude stinks, and the likelihood is that it won't change at his third club. Great signing for the Bulldogs NSW Cup side.

  • Simple. He was overpaid, and under-performed. Same as he's done for the Warriors for the past two years. lol.

  • Fishy I think you may find a transformation and the phrase "3rd time luck" comes into play now.
I think it is a solid signing for them.
    • A 'solid signing's' a little different to a player that has 'a huge future', HH.

Given the Bulldogs injury problems regarding their outside backs, I see why they'd take him on to improve their cover in that area.

But some of the claims being made about the importance of this signing, both here and in the other Inu-related blog, simply bear no resemblance to reality.

  • The most amazing part of this signing is the fact that Des and the Dogs want him until the end of 2015. Inu has the best manager ever to get this guy a deal that long.

No doubt Krisnan has wasted his talents so far. If anyone can get him to harness that talent on a more consistent basis, you'd think it would be Des Hasler. I think it has the potential to be a very good signing for them, and even though he won't be in blue and gold, I really hope Inu realises his potential finally because it will be great to watch if it happens.

  • Inu does not lack talent or power. He is lazy and has poor judgement.
His issue is a mental one which if the right coach could manipulate and turn it around I do not see why Inu would not be a sizeable acquisition to the dogs team.

Everything is alright at home Mack, your mrs has the dinner cooked and on the table when I walk in the door - it sits there for a while but it gets eaten in the end.
  • Taha for once u r correct. i look forward to seeing what Hasler can do to bring out the immense talent that is K.INU.....no other coach can help this guy out of his laziness and erratic ways, so this is his last chance really

  • If anybody can get an attitude adjustment out of Inu, it will be Des..... Des is a great man manager and motivator, and showed to date that he knows how to get the best out of hes players, nearly all hes players improve under him, and he creates game plans that suit hes players, and the players follow them... ive never been a fan of inus on field attitude, but good luck to him at the dogs, if des cant turn him around, it will be off to England for inu......
