Un-sung hero

I think this is the second blog i have ever written and i feel it needed to be written.

I feel there is a player who has made his way back into the starting side and is again showing why he is crucial to the Eels going forward and being a real premiership contender. A lot of people laid into him on this site over the last season or two, which i thought was pretty harsh considering the team he was playing in. I love the Eels but the last two seasons were disgraceful and now that he is back, and i think PLAYING BRILLIANT FOOTY, he still isn't getting much if any acknowledgment for how good he has been.

I won't keep you guessing, its Ken Sio.

I have been a big fan of his since day one. I personally think he is a great winger who is "VERY" underrated who go's unoticed, as he is not all that flashy, but does most of the little things wright. Ever since making his way back into the side first grade side this season i think he has been one of our "BEST". I know there are going to be a few on here who are going to point out a mistake he has made this season, or even worse over the last few in a very down and out Eels team, but lets be honest, what player hasn't made at least several mistakes this season, from any team for that matter. It happens to the best of them.

Everyone is talking about Semi at the moment, i agree he deserves all the praises, but it seems no-one is giving any credit to Kenny Sio. He has been outstanding under the high ball this season, and the other seasons for that matter, he has been great defensively in general this seasons and he has put on some good dummy half runs without being overly brilliant, but most of all he has been silky on the end of set plays and putting himself in great position for the chip over the defensive line to catch and score in the corner.

AS NO-ONE ELSE IS SAYING IT I WILL; GO KENNY SIO YOU BLOODY CHAMPION!

I do feel sorry for Toutai, who i think he is developing into a good first grader, but i think it will be very hard to get back into the side with the way the team and Kenny are playing at the moment Also if we loose Sandow for what ever reason, we desperately need Kenny to kick which was proven earlier in the season when we were without a proper kicker.

I for one sincerely hope that Kenny Sio is signed up long term if has already hasn't been, because he is, as the title of this blog says, an UN-SUNG HERO. Im sure he would be the best value for money player we would get as well.

Come on everyone, lets show a little love for a guy who deserves a little, if not a lot, of recognition.

  • MC I gotta agree to a certain degree. Sio has improved every game he has played in this year and he was very good under the high ball last week as well.

I don't think he would command a high asking price to re-sign with the EELS and would probably be good value when compared to others in the squad.
  • Agree with everything except when you mention Toutai... He should never have played first grade ... Can't catch can't stay on his wing
  • Sio, Toutai and Semi have all improved dramatically, the entire squad have. BA's doing very well.

  • He has definitely improved his defense but i will reserve judgement until rd 15
  • 100% agree. Always been a fan of ken sio. The right side attack of sio n hoppa has been all class. Not the flashy stuff, but the tough runs, always putting their hands up, great bombs diffused, great blacks provided by hopoate, jus doing their job without the praises, every team needs players like sio. And he can definitely finish off tries...actually, both our wingers can.... Actually...our whole backline!!!!

It's so difficult not to be excited this year!!!! We played our worst game against the tigers n was 18.18 with 5 to go!!!! How good is that ! Lol
  • He has finished off some good tries this year and he has taken a few difficult bombs on his try line so far. Go Kenny!
  • Good to see Kenny took all criticism that came his way on the chin and worked hard to return to first-grade where he's now performing well.
He's building on what was good form at the back of the 2013 season and is definitely a player that probably doesn't get as many kudos as others.

I've always liked him and rated him as a player. He's the best out-and-out winger the club has, IMO.

    • Kenny is a great and reliable player, but to say he's a better out and out winger than Radradra is a joke. Semi has barely put a foot wrong all year and has been devastating and still only 21 years of age.

  • Kens going good, doing his job without making mistakes, been good under the high ball, full credit to Kenny, hes doing a good job for us, good blog matt.

  • sio is one of those players who will never be a superstar and you can't have a side of superstars u need solid first graders like ken to compliment your star's.

over the last couple of years his biggest weakness I feel has been defusing the bomb this year u can tell hes really been working on that aspect and is attacking the kick with confidence.
