Thoughts on the recycling approach?

Crooks, Nelson, Macpherson, Wicks, Robinson, Fa'oso, Takirangi, Champion. These players all fit into the 'recycled player category'.

arthur is building depth which is good, because this was one of the reasons we missed the eight last year with that mid season slump (losing knights @ parra stadium comes to mind).

He is taking an approach of recycling players. Just wondering how everyone feels about the recycling players approach, and whether it can get us success. I believe so because its arthur and he will get the best out of players, but i cant help but turn my mind to the last time we went down this path. Do names such As Carl Webb and Chris Hicks ring a bell? haha

  • well maybe not crooks but you get my drift

  •  Yeah, but Carl Webb hadn't played a good game of Footy for several years before he came to us. Carl was 3 or 4 years past his used by date.

  • I still think we should have signed a recycled coach.

Man I wish we got Jason Taylor ;)

  • Other coaches have done this successfully for years. It's all about building the right team and right culture. You get players who are going to take this process forward.
Take your mind back 2-3 years. We would have been stoked to be getting some of these players. Our team in 2015 won't look very much like our team in 2013. Much better and much more competitive.
  • I am a fan of the concept. Players don't just forget how to play. Some have injuries, others have a fall out with the club and others just lose form and need a new start to find the spark again. Craig Bellamy has done a brilliant job over the years of recycling/finding talent and commitment where no other coach has been able. BA has this trait as well and more importantly he won't tolerate anyone who does not adhere to his plan. Interesting times ahead.
  • I think we have to keep in mind that BA had that recruitment strategy when he wanted physical presence to compliment his three playmakers (Hayne, Sandow, Norman). So will the increased physical presence work with less playmaking, especially if Norman does not go up two gears? We'll see, but maybe because I came to see Norman as a dud, I'm not confident.
  • I said I think it will work because BA will get the best out of his players.

Yeh my name is an ethnic one, all good with that?

"I wonder if the have Lomax on Right and move Penisini to left. Penisini is a Centre that can adapt, where Lomax has the pass that has him needed on the right.
But I think Lomax would be happy as long as it is Centre in a good team."
