I have been watching GF's for a long time. The first GF I attended was in 1965 as a 17 year old and I have watched every GF since.
Clearly having two interstate teams playing in the game lowers to a degree the excitement in Sydney. It was not a major problem in 2015 though.
However the other issue is the half time entertainment. Whilst clearly it is a political statement by the NRL and Channel 9 in hiring this person, The NRL and Channel 9 has not thought it thru
There has been so much controversy about Macklemore that their is no oxygen left to talk about the game itself.
I do not want to start another discussion on same sex marriage, my point is that since the introduction of the NRL Independent commission the game has gone backwards and this is but another example of their incompetence. Grant is departing at the conclusion of the season and his departure cannot come soon enough
Unfortunately Greenberg will not be following him out the door which is a great pity. As an interim measure I would remove Greenberg and bring in someone such as John Quayle to reset the direction and plans of the NRL until someone with skill can be found to head up the organisation.
There are issues such as the Salary cap/TPA's, wrestling in the ruck, referees, crowd support, Stadium policy, TV ratings and corporate support for the game which the current administration has no idea of fixing.
Time for a complete change

John, when has the nrl really thought the entertainment through? Can't remember too many times the entertainment suited the nrl demographic appropriately. And it's not the topic of THE song I'm talking about it's not a bad song just don't think it suits the occasion at all.
Even the GF time slot doesn't really suit people with kids or travelling.
Think the two interstate teams playing is because people are just so 'stormed' out. Think back on how the average nrl punter had to listen to the stormfest leading into that and then the result. A fan can't help but being turned off.
Still if the nrls surveys are to be believed ha, they have two of the top three most well followed clubs in the decider!
The NRL and AFL see themselves 'as social activitists' in some ways with their push for this inclusiveness rubbish. Leave that for govt. and parents please. And there music at half time has been avg for years but this year will take the cake for poor. Cold chisel in 2015 were good, and why is this political faction being pushed...? There is no reasonable answer...what's next? Coal seam gas? Electricity issues? All these issues have a left wing agenda. Enough said.
paul green kidding him self, he says parra fans are supporting the cowboys baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa joke or what? we do have a team in the gf under 20's thank you , who we no doubt support.
i hate the cowboys and that little man green, also hate the storm, so this years gf a joy for the refs only.
Mitchy at least it only took the AFL 24 hrs to realise that they had gone down the wrong path in promoting the debate and backed away and changed the signage. The NRL seem to be determined to tough it out.
The Qualifying final at ANZ between the Eels and the Cowboys drew nearly 42,000 people with 95% of the fans being Eels supporters. This needs to be a wake up call to the NRL to find a way to protect the Sydney based teams before it is too late.
There has been one Sydney based team playing GF football in the last three seasons
I must admit I have zero interest in the GF this year. The Storm are QLD team no 2 and Cowboys are QLD team no 3. If I had to choose I guess I would say Cowboys for a few reasons.
1. IF the Cowboys win a lot of their players would increase in value. Therefore putting more pressure on their cap. That is of course assuming they actually have a cap...... let's face it their roster is star studded right now and I find it hard to believe they are under a cap right now.
2. As a staunch NSW supporter I would like to see Smith, Slater and Cronk lose for no other reason other than they are QLDers. Yes you can say Morgan is QLD but in my book Smith and co and public enemy no1.
3. I don't think of Melbourne a club, they are a franchise. Noone in Melb gives a toss about them and most of their supporters are from QLD.
4. I had Jason Tamalou taumalolo in my supercoach team and he scored me a shitload of points :D
At the end of the day I have no interest and I think they would be better off playing this game at Suncorp.
