The KING takes responsibility for the loss

While it was a bad error, he would be the last person I'd blame for the loss last night. He had a hand in both tries and made the team more complete since his return.

  • I dont think ive evee seen players like norman or moses ever take responsibility for a loss.

Lets be real gutherson was woeful last night but fair play to him to take responsibility. Not even his own coach takes responsibility after losing to the most pathetic team in the NRL
    • your first sentence BNG ...absofukinglutely! Therein lies the difference between absolute team player men and boy blamers!

      • Agree up to a point macy, the big thing is that Guth has come out and said it, he will learn as a result of needs a big size 15 steel capped boot in the rear end, and never to try and kick a bouncing ball again.

Last week we saw images of Moses after he missed the goal at games end, I remember seeing Luke Burt the same way, they did not have to say anything the way they reacted was enough and that's good enough for me. Learn by your mistakes is an old adage that is strangely lost these days.

I had breakfast at Hamilton yesterday morning with my oldest son and 15 going on 30 oldest grandson, one who knows it all and the easy road forward, I told him some old sayings that really made him look.  The easier you take it early in life (school years) the harder it will be later in life, reverse that for a better future.

The same on the football paddock. These players if they don't learn by these too often seen game bloopers will never learn.  The thing is though, its good to enjoy playing but if its taken lightly which I see a bit in training photo's it makes me wonder as to how their minds really are. The other side of the coin is if they are too intense. The very thing I remember Harrigon saying after they knock us out of the Grand Final. He said at the breakfast they saw the whole eels team very very intense and knew at that point they had them on the rack.

  • I've seen it a few times with guth. Who remembers when he kicked an in goal ball that luckily was caught by Jennings 20 meters away last season?
I blame ba for not coaching it out of him
  • Actuall Col I’ve heard that saying too and was quoted as being the single most important thing a parent can do for their kids for future,” life not meant to be easy” stuff   ...teach them that early apparently...not that I did :)

take your point and some definetly  deal with adversity in footy better, accept responsibility act accordingly  and generally these are the ones to have leader written all over them...that’s the difference between Guth and the other still immature ones etc we look too...it’s my little bit of yoda  for the day :)

    • Macy, when I said that to the grandson, I also said.   IN other words the harder you work when you are young, and more able, the easier it is in later life.  My son agreed as did his partner when she said listen to that advice.

Trouble is Macy, life these days in so many minds is meant to be easy, the thumbs machine lifestyles of virtaullly no reality is what the problem really is, no accountability and the like. I am glad I live in my time and now as a genuine old fart, I wonder if a hermits life is not a good idea.

To me, RL players also need to look at how they train through the week and prepare for game days.  Being full time players, means to me they may often prefer the play than actually playing the game.

  • As a full back the loss was not Guth’s fault - shot happens - so long as it is a once off.

As the captain Guth is responsible for the loss an in particular for not taking the two points - repeatedly

    • Wille.  At the point of the first penalty when the decision was being made to go for the try or goal, one of the coaches or other staff on the bench got up and gave the rolling arm sign to the players, telling them to go for the try.  At that point it may or may not have been the best call, I personally thought they could have got a try as they had the momentum but, when they got the 2nd penalty no such sign was evident from the bench so I think they possibly believed they needed to keep attacking.  To me after they fail the first time, then get a penalty that is when you go for the goal.

It has to be very much part and parcel of their game tactics most other clubs are doing it and they know the eels wont take the shots so they just keep giving penalties and the refs are happy with that.

  • He had an assist for French and scored one his own. He’s one of the only players doing shit
  • It wasn’t his fault - the game should never had got to that point at that stage.

We were easily the better side but we simply couldn’t put them away.

Gutho hold your head high bud - we need another 16 like you and we’d be running 1st.
