The Emperor

Think we all would agree Parra is a bit of a wreck at the moment.Do many if any think it would be different if Fitzy never got moved on

  • Yep , must admit at the time as a somewhat Fitzy fan , I was mildly excited for a change , especially after the Chinese for votes scandal I thought the time had come   . But looking back now Fitzy was a damn fine administrator.  Pretty much as soon as 2010 kicked off I was very much anti Spagnolo and copped a gazillion bans and truckloads of abuse and ridicule from the self appointed big dickks over the trough on League Unlimited .  They know who they are . It was a massive Spags circle jerk over there and then funnily all the pro Spags stuff was deleted once the truth came out .  All of a sudden the pro Spags campaigners turned into “ we knew he was no good “

Fitzy wasn’t only the best administrator we’ve had , he was one of the best the league has had . Rules with an iron fist which is what we’ve seen is the only approach that works in this cut throat game .

    • I am in pretty much the same boat as you Wiz, I was a fan of fitzy but that started to decline towards the end particularly after the votes scandal and wanted change. Looking back on reflection we would probably not have been in the mess we have been in since 2010, and lets face it 2009 until Hayne saved the day, if Fitzy was still running the joint.

I can honestly say I would welcome him back now with the state this club is in.

      • Me too HKF, we are that bad both on and off the paddock that I think someone like Fitzy wouid restore some kind of credibility. How bad is that, that after all that has happened Denis comes out looking like the most credible person to get us on track .

He also comes as a package deal , love him or hate him you get Ray Hadley arguably still the most influential person on air driving positive propaganda for us .

    • You were not the only LU fuck spags/3p off bro. I was brutal as fuck about it too.

  • I don't know enough about the inner workings of the club to have an opinion. It'd be pure guessing for me (and probably most people on here) to say fitzgerald would have prevented this mess. Who knows, maybe things would be worse or just as bad but for different reasons. All pure guessing and speculation.
    • not sure how worse it could be really

    • There is many years of Denis’s rule without the crap that pretty much answers this question . We may not have been successful on field the whole time , but our backoffice, facilities and everything else was the pinicle of the league .

Other than a few little hiccups here and there , and a few pokie shares in a supplier , we were virtually scandal free .  And I think it’s now pretty obvious why some ex players were pushed away . Ray Price has virtually brought this club to its knees single handily with his grudge .

      • But Brian Smith had to come in and fix everything from the juniors up. Fitzy had his day, but unfortunately he didn't keep the club ahead of the rest. We are still paying for that now, and you can thank all the bitching nonsense since the mid 90s till now for that.

        • Fitzy was an administrator not a development and scouting officer . He did afterall bring Brian Smith in for that .  His biggest mistake was crumbling to the pressure from the armchair coaching fans and not renewing Smith’s contract without a suitable replacement  . It all went to shit from there .  How anyone couldn’t see we were a highly competitive team with great foundations with Smith at the helm still baffles me . Denis knew it , however had to punt him to try to save his own arse .

          • I also liked that the bloke had a face.Might not of liked it all the time and after some games back in the late 80s early 90s after a few too many back at the club would of liked to smash it least he was around as were alot off the players. As you said with Smith i think he had the right man for the job, still to this day i dont think you could get a better fit for the eels than Smith
