Suggestion to eliminate racial and abusive blogs

Hi all,

Further to my rant on abusive, racial comments made by members on this site on another topic, I had a thought.

I really feel for the moderators who do this on a voluntarily baisis and have to deal with a lot of inappropriate material on this site.

I am no computer guru, so am not sure how easy or hard this may be, but I think it would be great if we as individuals could block other individuals. Therefore if they blog something and we have turned them off then we as individuals don't see their comment. That way we don't have to trawl through racial, swearing and general abusive material. It seems to be a select few, so we as individuals can decide whether we want to read their diatribe.

If we do not "see" them then we will not respond, they won't get any oxygen and will hopefully just go away. They may come back as another name, but after a couple of blogs we as individuals will see through them and just a click will see them blocked. This will save the moderators a lot of time in the long run I would think.

I love this site, its news, rumours and opinion, I just find it hard to swallow the continual barrage of abuse etc. I come on, see that there is a new comment, go to the topic to find that there is only rubbish being added. It wastes my time.

As I said, not sure if this is hard to do, but I think it would be a welcome addition to the site.

On another note, can someone help me with the following. When I look at this site on my i-Phone and go to a blog, it comes up with see next 12 items. So when there is a big blog it takes forever to get to the end of it to see the latest comments. When I look at it on my computer it shows pages so you can just go to the end and do a catch up. Why is it different on my i-Phone. Hope you understand what I am talking about.

If you go to the bottom of the web page it has an option to view regular site. Click on this and it is just like the computer one.

What about tougher skin? Are tough skin cans of spray available at Coles or Woolies?

I am not an abuser Rob but M8 I think you need to go into the 1Eyed Extreme Group.

I am not an advocate for promoting foul activity on this site but sometimes we need to just ignore it, laugh at it or bite and give the blogger a bit back? If it gets to a certain level then the mods will delete the abuser.

If it wastes your time hopefully something can be done but in the end M8 hopefully you can get through the garbage.

The best thing people can do is not respond to be abusive posts. Firstly, people get bored if they don't get a reaction and secondly it makes it easier for me to take action. Every time I boot someone for being abusive, I get the same response: "It wasn't just me". Which often not is true, because too often people respond to provocation with a like response.

  When a stupid blog receives a certain amount of thumbs downs it can get flagged for reviewing by the mods.
  
  Also lets not forget there are kids on this site too..... Try and keep the abuse and swearing to a minimum.

I sometimes try to control a blogger by using the force (my undeniable funny wit) to bring down the subject.
But he is right, try to ignore and not respond and they will go away.

Don't comment that much but love the sight.However feel need to comment here.I thought this sight is about Parra Eels not individuals.I come on here to read up about the latest happening and lately all I get is people abusing other people.Everyone just needs to get over it.We are all entitled to their own opinion and yes we are all passionate supporters but for god sakes don't make it personal.
