Start from scratch

I'm so sick and tired of a new coach coming in and trying to rebuild the club. Every time we have tried to rebuild we have gotten worse then the previous year, we have signed players for a lot money and not gotten any return on investment, we are always trying to get the quick fix or band aid solution to our problem. Maybe its time to start from scratch, we have already let go of some deadwood from the team, lets ask the new recruits if they want to play for this great club and if they want to go then go. I want players who want to play for the blue n gold, be passionate about the club, when players want to play for a club results will come. When was the last time we signed anyone from another club and had a good season playing for the Eels. Lets spend the money on our juniors and develop the players. Think about it, when the Eels have a good season the bulk of the players come from the junior ranks, far too long we have let talented juniors go to other clubs, I know it's hard to predict what kind of player they will be in the future but maybe our real problem is that we don't have the right people in place to spot the talent coming through. Sorry for the rant I'm just a frustrated and passionate Eels supporter, who is also having a hard time to convince his kids to follow a once great club and one day will be a great club a again.

    couldnt agree more with you. The people trying to spot talent at the Eels should be fired, they have done nothing. The last decent guy we had for spotting talent was Noel Cleal, since he left it has been disastrous.

     Wouldn't this be one of the reasons we are going with a GM? Hopefully our new GM will be someone with an eye for talent and how to nurture it, so that when our juniors step up they are ready.

      The new GM if we get one will only see what is happening in the Eels ranks not outside of the club, that is the work of the ones that should all be fired.

      Reserves start up again next year, hopefully we will benefit from our local products.

    Your sick of rebuilding and quick fixes, contradicting your self a bit there. RS plyed a heap of juniors this year and it's quite clear we don't have the talent required at the moment. I'm all for investing in juniors but it will mean a long wait until we r competitive again. If u r willing to get a few more spoons then ok let's put all our eggs in the junior basket.

      If that what it takes to be consistently competitive and play finals footy nearly every year then bring more spoons.

    We already have some good young juniors in the side in loko, morgan, paulo, terepo, pritchard and some young players in edwards and radradra. Next season is building confidence and more experience to a few young players and if luck goes our way with injuries we can have a half decent year. We just need our "spine" in sandow, hayne, norman and peats to fire along with a dominating forward pack, we can be anything. GO PARRA....
