Signing Consideration.

The Eels could do worse than consider signing Brisbane`s Cory Oats. He is unhappy playing winger and wants to play second row. Bennett has tried him at second row but thinks he is more value to the team as a winger. Oats is tall and fast, something the Eels need in the forwards. It seems possible that Oats would move to another club to get a 2nd row gig. Rumour has it that the Storm and Souths are interested in him. Would anyone come to the Eels the way we are performing? Unlikely but you never know until you try.

  • He would be a welcome addition to our squad but brisbane would never let him go without a massive fight
  • Not sure about this one. Bennet wont play him there because he is too soft for backrow. That is the last thing we need. Be a good signing for the wing though.

"Bennett took a swipe at Oates when he said he needed to “toughen up” to play back row and he risked being shunted to reserve grade if the move didn’t work out."

    • When he first started playing first grade he was a bench forward who ran great lines and was stiff in defence. The problem was the Broncos had Glenn Thaiday Gillette and Parker. Youve got no idea what your talking about.
  • Yep good replacement for Semi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What an idiot, he's a definite starter for QLD on the wing and one of the top contenders for Aus on the wing scoring all those tries but he wants to play in a position that he wont even make a starting 17 in most NRL teams... FMD

  • He'd be a step up from how Manu Mau is playing at the moment

  • If the storm want him game over he going there but would take him better then ones we got

  • I reckon he is one of the players we need. We need (primarily and in order of importance)

    1. A damaging middle forward

    2. A dynamic edge forward (Oates fits bill)

    3. A big strong winger
    • Last thing we need is a soft Edge Forward with poor ball skills. He does not want to play on the wing because teams are putting him under pressure with high kicks.
