Michael Clarke has apparently contacted CA and offered to temporarily come out of retirement for free and lead the Australian team whilst Steve Smith is unavailable.

What's everyone thoughts on this ?

This is just a hunch, but it seems as if CA still sees Smith as our long term skipper,(which I agree with incidentally), so I have a feeling that his additional 12 month leadership ban will ultimately be waived or at least reduced. If that is the case, is bringing Pup back into the fold temporarily the right move, or should they persist with Tim Paine, or look at an alternative within the current group ?

Clarke backs away from Aust comeback story

Yes, Michael Clarke wants to help Australian cricket. No, he is not committed to a playing comeback.

  • YES......bring him back

  • No fucking way, the blokes a little grub and well past it, disgusting the way he put the boot into smith too, Clarke is a little ellen degenerate impersonating cat.

    • When did he put the boot into Smith ?

  • Interesting call for the new coach.

I'd suspect his back is completely stuffed, therefore I don't think he would pass the physical tests.

    • According to the article his back feels better than ever. Now that could change if he started playing again of course.

I guess the pertinent question is if not Clarke or Paine, then who is a viable alternative ?

For me, it can't be a bowler or keeper and it has to be a batsman who can command a place in the team on the strength of his batting alone. Not really sure if there is such a player at the moment.

I do know that the selectors think of Mitch Marsh as our next long term captain after Smith, but he is nowhere near ready for that yet.

      • If fit then maybe. I'd like to see him do a lot of net work and to make sure he is not past it. I think Clarke would need to go to England and play well over their in the off season for agreeing to anything for our summer.

There is rumours going around that the three suspended will received a reduced suspension and be back early.

    • Fair enough. I hadn't heard that.

    • Apparently he has been keen for this story to gain momentum by contacting media agencies to push this. Like a political party floating an idea and seeing how it flys. Easy to deny it if it doesn’t get traction.

My 20 cents worth is a definite NO to his return, he is a devisive little pr1ck.

5. Beau Scott, at the time he brought a lot to the team. What was a inexperienced side and forward pack. He helped build the foundations a lot. "

"Tex Hot will get more money in the UK. Over here he is a winger or back up fullback. Over there he will get another gig at fullback. Not a bad player but journeyman. "
