Semi as a winger with the athletic build he has, will still not slow down much over the next 5 seasons and It still stuns me as to why we can't get at least a TPA of $400k for a REAL superstar, a powerful market and crowd puller and put him on the books for $600k (or even $600k TPA and $600.00 on the cap) and get him back from the union of a French wank fest this season to help us towards rebuilding a squad that wins 80%+ of all games and go on to win a few premierships too. What the fuck is going on Bernie and BA???? It can't be that hard especially with a new coliseum available next season to showcase a new era of Eels dominance over the NRL. With 16 players unsigned for next season, we are in a position to go after at least half a dozen hot shot players to go with the creme of what we've got now. I've fucking had enough of second best since 1987. I want my cake and eat it too.

  • $$$$$$ can get Semi back, so is showcasing Semi in the new Eels Coliseum and fuck the French, do a Gasnier in reverse or forward and bring him back, and sure the French won't be happy and will never sign him again but who gives a fuck, bring Semi back, a massive crowd puller. And invest in Condom manufacturers as many an Eel and NRL supporter will be jerking off (or fingering) over Semi's exploits.

    • $$$ can get him back? Mate his on a 2 year deal worth $1.2 mil a season at the moment, has just been added to the Fijian squad for the pacific nations cup and with the rugby World Cup in Japan just around the corner there's some pretty impressive "coliseums" to play at for that tournament. We're not going to see him for a few years at least.

  • Well if i was a sponsed seeing as semi never really liked doing much media id wonder how marketable he would be on top of that semi can get the same or more money and not have the media exposure he had you have to wonder how much the whole court case took out on him.

For semi being the type of guy he is france suites him he won't be back
    • From the rumours spreading here and there, he is still a long way from home and family and its hard going for him over there. It seems he has matured lots and will handle everything so much better after everything he has been through thus far and he loves BA and our club and deeply loves Hayne who plans on staying on with the Eels until retirement, that's after finally winning a premiership or two.

    • Rumours are Rumours he wont be back and we as fand need to move on. If he does come back there will be a bidding war for him don't expect loyalty to come into the equation
  • Semi is worth every cent . Every day of week he is 500k . Not happening unfortunately
  • Time to move on....and on....and on..and on..
  • Just like all coaches copied the storm style of play they have copied their salary cap format. Spend big on the spine and that is where the best players should be. I don't think it is the best way to spend the cap. Spend big on your best players regardless of position and semi was by far our best player.

I think wingers are under valued by every team and that is why so many want to switch to another position to be able boost their pay packet. Most kicks are to the corner now so wingers make as many kick returns as the full back. The have to make more defensive decisions as most tries are scored on the edge so positional play such as to stay back or come up is as important as the fullback positional play. They also help out forwards when coming out of own half.
If semi doesn't come back I would pay Valentine Holmes "full back money" as they say. He isn't happy and has said he wants to play fullback. Is that so he can get more money as part of the spine. If that is only reason pay him the money and let him roam or swap during attack at times. He has proven he is worth as much money as any fullback when at his best on the wing. We should also be looking in Fiji for the next semi or vunivalu for lower grades and debut in next year or 2.
Look at the Cowboys line up. They realised that taumalolo is a game winner and there best player along with JT so offered him 1 million a year making him highest paid forward by long way. Now other sides are all looking for quality forwards and paying big money. Bulldogs got Woods at close to million year and now forwards are commanding over 700k for half a game each. We don't need to copy them we need find best formula for parra. Unfortunately we need a quality front rower now so will probably have pay big amount unless can find quality foward looking for more minutes similar to when we got evans. I still think Evans can come good if returns to early roosters form where showed he had good offload and big hits in defence.
  • TPAs why would anyone in there right mind want to be attached to Parra after that fiasco that went on a year and half ago.

The idea that we just pull 400 K or someone just folk s over that cash is wishful thinking isn't it.

A lot of damage has still to be fixed until we talk about being able to just folk over the mentioned.

Anyway Semi's doing what he's doing on a mill per year in a piss easy comp in France I'd maximise that before thinking about coming back aswell.

  • Even if we offered $1m a season after tax he’d have less than $500k.

In France he is on $1.2m a year, which after French tax rates puts over $1m in his pocket.

We’d need to pay him $2.2m for him to earn what he earns in France
