Religion at the Eels???

There could be nothing in this, but I heard that there is a rift forming between those in the team associated with Hillsong and the rest of the team (including coaching staff and management). Has anyone else heard anything along these lines?

  • I dont know anything about a rift but i do know that Jarryd Hayne attends Hillsong.
  • I don't normally go for the rumour crap, but it sounded plausible. My mate heard there is a group of 5 or so in the team that are in quite deep with the Hillsong crowd and that it interferes with some of the training schedules and overall team stability. At this stage I'm not going to put too much weight to the rumour, but if others have heard anything it could be another straw on the back of the camel. It obviously didn't cause too much trouble last year....
  • Given that Ozzie is a Hillsong regular too, if there was a rift then you'd want to be on the same side of that rift as the CEO.
  • I think religion has no place in sports, that said whatever people choose to practice on their own time is their right and anyone who would take a disliking to that I don't want on my team.

That said if it was affecting training I would take offence.
  • Its not ridiculous that there may be segments of the boys that hang out with one another more than others because of this. Some of the team i work with go to hillsong and follow that cristian church and they definantly spend more time together and dnt include themselves in any team outings or bonding over a beer or anything. so i can see some players not associating as much with each other ,as others might. But tony is right, its not a riff i dnt think they let religion play any part of the work ethic or focus they probably dnt bond with the team personally as much...
wouldnt effect the business side of being a professional footballer.

they should make the parra football club their church and the eels logo their alter and heaven is the premiership.... or is that just me?
  • I think you'll notice that I mentioned that it's a rumour and that it didn't effect them last year, but thanks for pointing it out again.
  • i think the rift is because the parra team as a whole is a joke, from the cleaners, strappers, fans, players and right through to the coaching staff, thats the word on the street.
  • Joke hey
who knocked the crap of a team u support last year ?????
    • oh u won a finals game, how did u go in the GF, did u lift the trophy?

      Choke choke choke choke choke......bahahahahahahaha
      • Yes but your team choked well before the GF....

How did it feel to be knocked out by the team you claim are all a joke? And what does that make your team?
