    • We certainly won the forward battle and the metres battle.
You do that and you're near certainties to win more games than you lose.

It's the icing on the cake that is Vave's form. He's been building steadily and then gets an extra five minutes or so and bam! More metres.

  • Nathan Brown has dragged this team into some sort of form. His leg speed in getting our sets off on the right foot have been outstanding, often the first forward to hit it up off a kick return, he's lead our line speed in defense and with his offloads more often then not creates most of our second phase play. Forget Keary, through sheer weight of numbers he's the buy of the year. Doesn't get the kudos he deserves from the greater league community, he certainly does in my household.
    • Brownie will certainly be one of the buys of the year and if he can keep this up for another month or so, he'll become close to if not the best buy of the year.

Keary is probably still that front-runner if only because he's given the Roosters side a new dimension that has seen them score more points and create more opportunities on both sides of the field rather than just one with Pearce. And his link-up play with Pearce this year has been tremendous.

But you're right about Brown. The pleasing aspect for me isn't so much any of what you mentioned, Bup, but that he's actually curbed his dumb, penalty-laden, over-aggressive ways. I'm surprised that he's done so given so many other players haven't done it but I'm glad that he has because he is really making a huge different to this side.

  • Hopefully Kenny Edwards can take a leaf out of his book?

    • You'd like to think so.

You want Kenny to keep that larrikin side to his game but he has to learn not to go overboard.

      • In other words - Kenny cuddle YES, Kenny slap NO.

        • 100%.

Kenny can do the cuddle all he likes. I actually miss that as it was good entertainment value just to see the reaction of the other players, lol.

  • 5 missed tackles from Pritchard, ouch. Where are the stats on metres gained post impact - we dominated here which is great to see.
    • I don't do post impact metres, Jimbo, for the simple reason that they are woefully inconsistent.

I know Nine have added them to their coverage but they're inconsistent because there's no gauge or metre to determine how far a player has run post-contact, nor one to take into account how far they've been pushed back etc.

It's probably the most inconsistent stat out there and because I want to ensure total accuracy with the stats I put up, I don't peruse them. Besides, it's mostly guesswork. You ask 10 people how many metres a player makes post-contact and you're probably going to get at least 8 different answers.

  • Great Job Rickstar...and spot on with the metres stats comment mate fully agree....
