Dear Roy, with the leagues club election looming tomorrow I thought it would be appropriate to ask some questions about your role in the alleged collapse of companies you had an interest in and owing the Australian Taxation Office around $1 million dollars http://www.smh.com.au/news/lhqnews/italian-connection-comes-under-scrutiny/2009/07/03/1246127690245.html?page=fullpage#contentSwap2 .
As Walkley Award winning journalist Kate McClymont said “our investigation has concentrated on two aspects. One is possibly the fitness of Mr Spagnolo to hold the position as boss of the Parramatta Eels given his interesting background in relation to his companies going into liquidation” (http://www.abc.net.au/stateline/nsw/content/2006/s2626495.htm)
We note you have never responded to the allegations publically. McClymont was quoted in Crikey back in March 2013 about the articles you don’t like.
McClymont told Crikey Spagnolo had complained about the articles but had not pursued any of his complaints. “Those articles are now part of the public record, and any attempt to prevent people referring to them would be tantamount to hampering a free press,” she said.
In the interests of people voting tomorrow could you please answer these questions?
- Why have so many companies you have had an interest in gone into liquidation?
- How much money is owed to the ATO and other creditors left out of pocket?
- Did the liquidations come about due to poor management?
- Have you, at any time, been interviewed by the ATO’s Phoenix Unit investigating collapsed companies? See http://www.smh.com.au/news/lhqnews/police-tax-office-move-in/2009/07/06/1246732285836.html
- Have you, at any time, been interviewed by ASIC in relation to these corporate collapses?
- What were the results of these interviews, if any?
- Did the ATO issue any amended assessments or apply penalties in relation to this matter?
- Why has 3P director Joe Saad deserted the 3P ticket and decided to run as an independent?
- Why was Phil Sim suspended from the leagues club when the board could not produce any evidence of defamatory statements at his hearing?
- Who authorised the comments made by Eric Grothe Jnr this week about two ParraFirst candidates supporting an opposition team and posted on the Parra 4 Ever website?
- Who wrote the offending blog?
- Was Eric Grothe Jnr paid for making these comments?
- Any other information you would like to share with voters.

Great blog Jimmy, if it quacks like a duck, and looks like a duck, its a duck, only a complete fool would thry to defend Spagnolo over the above, and i can guarentee you that spags (the master of puppets) would be still using the same modus operandi as above to run our club.
lol,
