Parramatta have failed in a bold bid to snatch Melbourne Storm supremo Frank Ponissi.
Ponissi is a key man in the Storm success story over the past decade and more, working as coach Craig Bellamy’s right-hand man.
He has helped establish the code in Victoria and been a vital figure in the club’s success on and off the field.
So much so that he recently re-signed to stay at the club.
But that didn’t stop the Eels having a crack.
After combing through the NRL, Parra's independent review identified him as the man to lead the club out of the doldrums.
But no amount of persuasion could make Ponissi leave the Storm and the Eels were forced to settle for their second choice, former Wests Tigers skipper Mark O'Neill, as general manager of football.

Obvious choice Ponissi. I believe Oneil was about their 45th choice
Ponissi didn’t accept cause they weren’t paying what his worth.
But it feels sooooo good :)
I like you Poppa, I’ll let you see both.
I agree Mick.
Imagine Bernie trying to convince FP to come to the club, we stood no chance.
He would have been giggling as Bern told him that we were the strongest club in Sydney, Frank would have fallen out of his chair laughing listening to Bern and his Kenny Callander voice.
FP - ''Hows the TPA situation coming along Bern? How many you got and how many will we be able to find when im here?''
BG - ''Whats a TPA?'' ''we dont do them here, too complicated mate''
FP - Ok...............bye.....
I think so, and he's already knocked back an approach by the Tigers apparently.
