Parramatta Eels unearth soccer talent (lol)

The Pirtek Parramatta Eels held a joint session with A-League side Sydney FC on Thursday, and it may have unearthed some undiscovered soccer talent!

Jarryd Hayne, Krisnan Inu, Joel Reddy, Matt Keating and Tim Mannah met their round-ball counterparts in a cross-code football juggling contest.

Parramatta Eels fullback Jarryd Hayne was the clear winner for the Eels’ players, and learnt more tricks off Sydney FC’s master of juggling, Iain Ramsay.

The Parramatta Eels are lending their ground to Sydney FC for their match against Perth Glory, and centre Krisnan Inu enjoyed the opportunity to learn some new tricks and chat to FC players Alex Brosque, Stephan Keller, Antony Golec and Ramsay.

“After a hard training session it was good to have fun with the boys. We’ve got two or three soccer balls we use at training and like to muck around with it,” Inu says.

“We were asking them how to do a few tricks and get the ball off the ground, I think a few of our boys think they play like Ronaldinho, like Jarryd Hayne.

“Definitely Jarryd is the best out of us, he can do anything with a ball. “I think Haynsey’s even tried to use his soccer skills in a game a few times, lifting the ball off the ground with his feet.”

While the A-League is now winding down, the Eels’ preparations for 2010 are stepping up, and pre-season training is progressing well according to Inu.

“Everyone’s excited and everyone’s been training hard and working hard,” he says. “We finished on a high note and we want to start this season that way.

“The confidence is there, we just need to go one extra step than last year.”

  • Man I can imagine Hayne and Inu already with their soccer skills. Imagine they lifted the ball up with their foot and chipped it over an opposing player's head (hands free of course) and caught it and went for a try. That would be the moment of the year.
