  • NORMAN TO BE HIT HARD

Corey Norman has returned to training with Parramatta after being stood down by the club after he pleaded guilty to drug offences in court last week.

However, Fox Sports’ chief NRL reporter says not to link his return to training with a return to the field, with the star playmaker set to face a ban that could extend to the end of the season.

Speaking on NRL Tonight, Hooper said he expected the NRL to take a “hard line” with Norman after several unsavoury incidents involving the Eels player this year.

“Obviously we know with Corey he was issued a warning for consorting with criminals at that Chinese dinner at Star City casino, the same night he was then found in possession of drugs he has since pleaded guilty to in a court of law,” Hooper said.

“Then of course we’ve got that video that’s got everyone behind the scenes talking about it.

“Certainly I think from an NRL point-of-view they believe enough is enough.

    “ ... I don’t think we’ll see him again this season.”

However mystery still surrounds how the punishment will be handed down, with Norman still yet to front the NRL Integrity Unit, according to Hooper.

“Not quite sure exactly why Corey hasn’t fronted head office but as it sits at the moment there’s a little bit of a stand off going on.”
    • hooper like kent they have no news and make up  stuff on the run as they talk shit each day.. cory will be back in a few more weeks in my view after starting training today, after a week off.

the boards gone, so things should get better from now.

and we have the new wally lewis in gutho, playing 5/8  again, andrew johns said hes the new wally lewis, i agree hes a very good 21 year old future star, the star manly let go...thank watmough for getting gutho to parra thank you choc.. we also have taka back , and hayne seems in talks with brad and ian , maybe in a few weeks as the dust clears and the leakers at parra go on holidays, we may see hayne /cory norman back at the eels 2 weeks should be ideal, we will beat the titans no doubt at all.

  • Very fair imo, and its not just us coming down hard on him, our clubs such a shambles nobody gets punished for anything, BA wanted him to play last week lol, this has been forced by the NRL no doubt, Corey has let the club and game down and deserves his rest of the season off, and from all reports its not his first warning at our club.

Corey is a twit who only has himself to blame and rest assured its only a matter of time when he will let us down again, not if.

    • Got to disagree snakey. Consorting with criminals is a bullshit issue, one which goes against freedom of association and I do think it was even bought to the ridiculously named integrity commission. Secondly the tape Corey was in is irrelevant there is no claim he had done anything wrong with that... How does someone else selling to the media Corey's issue? The only thing he is guilty of is the eccys. Even the court only deemed this a $400 fine. Tell me how the Sharks players on illegal substances can get 2 months but Corey loses 2 months for a lot lesser offence?????
    • Sorry forgot to put in my response the hypocrisy of the "unamed" Broncos player snorting cocaine. Corey's name was not kept out of the paper, nor should it have been so why has the bronco player???? I would hope he gets an equivalent penalty... Or will we never find out who it is and get swept under the rug ala Andrew gee
    • Agreed Beer Baron. While I do agree with Snake that Corey should be held accountable by Parra and stood down for a few games, the NRL set themselves a precedent when they let players who were taking performance enhancing drugs off with 4 weeks.
1 rule for some another for others I guess.

  • NRL have no hesitation to kick us when we're down.

Going to make sure we don't get anywhere near anything - they just forgot one small thing - Brad Arthur and his team.

    • Hold on young Col , this isn't bias or kicking us while we are down, Pearce got 8 weeks for bringing the game into disrepute and he wasn't charged with anything, its only fair on everybody that Corey cops the rest of the year off and if this happened a decade ago he would probably have been banned a lot longer.

  • If I get done for possession
Will I get the rest of the year off with full pay?
