Message from the Chairman

Dear Members,

After an extremely successful high performance training camp in Seattle, the team is back to full time training in Parramatta. I dropped into training yesterday morning and saw a united team pushing themselves to the limit. The injection of a host of new players, including Antony Watmough and some of our rising stars, leaves me excited about the Eels' prospects for next season.

Meanwhile, after the team returned to Australia, the Eels' executive team spent four days in Los Angeles visiting some of the best sports administrations in the world. The learnings from the LA Lakers, LA Dodgers and, in particular, the Disney Institute will help our club achieve its goal of providing the best game day experience in Australian sport.

I must express my disappointment, though, on how previous poor governance has yet again been highlighted in the media, this time in relation to the District Rugby League Club. It is my philosophy that all people who want to serve our great club need to put the club first, not any personal agendas.

The simple rule that my team and I have employed since you, the Members, honoured me with this opportunity to guide our club, is "club first, team second and individual third."

I will continue to work tirelessly to rid our club of any individuals who put their own interests above the club and who continue to cause instability in our organisation.

PS. Work has commenced on the footy fields side of our new training facility at the Old Sale Yards reserve. We will see the facility operational from February. If you're in the area, drive past and take a look at the new training home of the Eels as it takes shape!

And as we prepare to hit 10,000 Members for 2015, thank you to all of you for your continued support.

Stay strong, stay united, stay Blue and Gold.
