matt scott play or not

I personally think cowboys would be mad to change winning side. Their wins have been built off toughing out the situation with players not expected to get them this far. This belief in each other can crumble with team changes or leave players thinking Scott will lift them hence dropping there game just couple % which can be turning point in big games. As seen with other sides during the finals all changes and gambles of players has back fired.Parra played Kaysa breaking their 4 forward bench. I understand why with doubts over king but as seen it back fired and was big reason for their loss against cowboys. After Alvaro was ruled out with HIA parra were against it.Next up was the broncos who felt they needed Boyd to win and probably played him a week early. Once again it backfired as he didn't finish the game..Then the roosters and most spectacular fail was toupu on the bench and Mitchell shifted to the wing. Mitchell had shocker and was even though scoring try was not as effective on wing. All turned out stupid calls that given hindsight all coaches would go different way yet if rumours are true green still feels he needs bring player back after even longer period of absence.I think cowboys can win but if Scott plays it will break the magic the cowboys have found over past few weeks.Might hold my bets till line ups announced.

  • he's there best prop and arguably their best forward (personally a weak argument with JT in their side). If Brown was out for most of next season but had proved himself fit for the finals would you play him? I certainly would.

  • Not a good idea for a player that has no game fitness.

  • I wouldn’t play him.
    2 reasons:
    - game fitness. He’ll be gassed after a few minutes
    - timing. He hasn’t tackled anyone for 6 months. His timing will be all over the place.
I’d have faith in the guys that have done the job thus far.

    • I was thinking the same thing.

Thurston must be tempted to pull on the jersey this week. I'm sure if he told Green he was willing to risk it, Green would select him. Tiare Martin on the bench instead of Hampton.

  • Current squad got them where they are without him.  Reward them for their efforts.  Seems a little similar to bringing back Terepo and Kaysa over Gower and Vave and we know how that worked out.

  • No...

id be filthy if i played the whole year and was dropped in the grand final for matt scott who played less 5 games the whole year

Plus, it would disrupt the team harmony... we've seen this time and time again where a player comes back from a serious injury and has an awful first game back as it takes about 4-5 games before they really start getting used to the intensity of play again.... Boyd Cordner in origin 3, Norman against the cowboys are a prime example of this.

    • Can't believe there wasn't more scrutiny on cordner in game 3. Nearly every try qld scored could be attributed by missed tackle by cordnerin that play or lead up. He was made look 2nd rate but commentators and media layed blame elsewhere. If he wasn't captain he wouldn't be named in that game. Poor leadership puting himself over the team and playing not 100% for important game.
Can't see Scott playing personally as don't think he that selfish.
  • If cowboys win i wonder if any of the team will give thurston thier premiership ring like he did to Pricey when at the bulldogs
  • He is the best prop in the game. I know he is not match fit, but he would cause some mayhem while he on. I would drop Jensen and put Scott on the bench. I would use him him key moments and and not overdo it. Jensen does not contribute much anyway. Its a no-brainer.

  • How's he letting the side down?
Martin to bench for cover and they only need to share around Hamptons 15mins.
As I said it must be tempting.

"None of them would even know he exists. That's the biggest issue. A Board with football expertise would know names like Cameron, Ponissi etc. They'd have them on a shortlist already. Our lot would probably hire a HR company to do some market…"
