For me Moses has been the biggest disappointment this year. After a great World Cup we expected so much from him, even Fittler was hinting he may be the new NSW no.7, and I thought he would go to the next level.
But things went pare shaped quickly and he stopped attacking the line, he started mimicking Benji of old by running sideways, he looked scared and wouldn't play straight, he wouldn't run to the line and pass short and looked nervous when driving his shoulder in defence. In short, he stopped putting his body on the line. I don't know if Moses is over trying, kicking stones or playing with injury, but his style of play in attack is a shadow of himself last year.
It is a very tough gig when your forwards are being dominated, but that is when the best halves shine. Yes, they do get smashed playing short, but by doing so they create much needed opportunities.
Norman has been running to the line, playing short and is getting targeted for doing so, but for us to start winning again we desperately need both of our halves playing very square and late at the line to give as much opportunity for our outside backs to have room to move.
I am very confident, if we see the Moses of last year, the Moses that is not afraid to run straight, play square, play very late at the line we will win this weekend.
But if Moses is Mr Crabman again this weekend he needs to be dropped to Wenty and replaced with someone else.

Don't get me wrong, I think Moses is an elite player, but he is not playing anything like an elite player. The difficulty we have is Moses is cutting off the right side backline and destroying Jennings attack and made if very difficult for French. French needs room to get on the outside of his opposition and to burn them with his pace, but when Moses runs sides he allows the opposition to slide sideways, and in turn kill off any attacking play. I hope French is on the left side this week for this very fact.
There are several options if Moses does not improve and they are:
- Gutherson. It may be a saver easier position for Gutho to play until his core running fitness returns.
- Hayne. It appears that only position he is now suited to. Being a big 5/8 he can comfortably play square and short at the line.
- Smith. A stop gap.
- Salmon. As an age player he is an elite player. Whether he can physically handle playing man I don't know. He is playing u20's this weekend.
Yes Moses seems to avoid the wrath that's applied to Norman. I'm no Norman fan (and admittedly a Moses sceptic) but the only thing Moses has done more than Corey this year is miss tackles. He's been ordinary to say the least.
Calls to make him captain are way premature.
Yes, you are correct.
Some good points mate, i think hes still a bit unsure of when to inject himself, he looks in two minds.
That tends to happen when your forwards aren't going forward.
If one of them doesnt put their hand up to take a back seat then one of them has to go im afraid.
I am guessing he is injured
