Key Match stats from parra vs tigers

Found interesting stats from the game yesterday. My own opinion, I don't think the forward pack did as bad as most are saying. We were definitely not as aggressive but we did make metres up the field. I thought our passin n our backs n halves were more of the cause of errors, and Joseph Paulo. Anyways, stats:Metres gained:Parra- 2184, tigers- 2091 (keep in mind, 2 gift runaway 90m tries)Line breaks:Parra-6, tigers-3 (double opportunities)Parra completion rate- 21/34 (60% roughly)Missed tackles:Parra-31, tigers-32 (again, missed chances with their missed tackles)Errors:Parra- 10, tigers 11 (parra's highest all season!!!! We made 7 errors when roosters pumped us by more than 50!!)Penalties conceded:Parra-7, tigers-4 ( there's no way parra was almost double as ill disciplined as tigers)My view, all up made more metres than tigers, double their line breaks, they had more missed tackles and surprisingly more errors. But like Brad Arthur said, we were guilty of trying to find the quick fix n win easy, instead of plying smart n grinding. Our completion rate was poor, errors were our highest, and conceding 7 penalties didn't help. We definitely had the chances to end the game but couldn't take it. At the end of the day it was 18.18 with 5 to go. It should never have been that close. 2 gifts, 1 poor read on our line jus before half time. Now time to recover n make sure boys are pumped n ready for Saturday night!! Come on Parra!!

  • Cowyboys will be a good test for us - we need to back up our last away effort with another good performance

    • I think it was said Roosters will be a test for us, Wests forward pack will be a good test for us... How many tests we going to have? Just go out there and win the games, enough of these continuous test talks, the only real test for us was and many other teams is the Premiers not many other teams should be a test after we beat the Roosters.

  • The other key stat is where the errors occurred. Obviously we made two errors in their quarter, the Hayne and Sandow passes leading to runaway tries. But otherwise we made our other errors rucking it out of our own territory, gifting them field position from about our 40. We shot ourselves in the foot and that is why we lost.
    • That's exactly right. Errors in key moments led to points. 2 gifts, the mannah drop ball leading to the winning field goal ...
  • Was there, have to say very ordinary game of football by both sides. Thought Hayne looked great 1st half though the only player with energy.
  • Hi Chino, I guess the stats only confirm what we all know, that we lost the game rather than the Tiges winning it.

    • Yep Mick sad but true. We gifted them the two points.
What made it worse for me and my son was that we had to endure a 50 min bus trip home listening to a half dozen Tigers supporters having a laugh at our side. Comments about Sandow, Norman, Mannah and Hayne really got under my skin.
They say that there is nothing worse than being a sore loser, but being an ungracious winner must be higher up the pecking order if you ask me.
  • I know what u mean Frank. Years ago, we played the Magpies at Lidcombe Oval & even though we were defending premiers, they won. A similiar thing happened. Some Maggie supporters razzed us all the way back to the station "call themselves premiers" in a mocking chant. It really hurt.

    • surely you jest MP, more like decades ago! I do not think half the supporters on this site would even remember games being played there!

      • This is sooooooooooo - like - Last century guys.

Ahhhhhh - the 'Olde Lidcombe Oval' - stinkiest dunnies on all the earth.

Worse than the old Cumberland dunnies under the grandstand - and they had to be BAD to beat them.
