SEVEN Network sports reporter Josh Massoud has been suspended from his job after its claimed he threatened to “slit” a rookie reporter’s throat and “shit down” his neck, sources have told The Daily Telegraph.

Yesterday Massoud, a rugby league expert, was called to an off-site meeting between Seven HR representatives and Seven’s Sydney News Director Jason Morrison at which the allegation was addressed.

Massoud had a lawyer present, sources say, as he addressed the claims he threatened a cub reporter, reducing the 21-year-old man to tears, and also abused a Sydney-based producer over the same incident.

Josh Massoud.

Seven’s head of news Jason Morrison.
Massoud is understood to have been stood down pending an internal investigation by Seven.

He allegedly became infuriated when the young man accidentally broke an embargo on a Todd Carney story that was slated to go to air on the network on Tuesday night.

The story related to North Queensland player Carney’s plans to transfer back to a Sydney club to be closer to his ailing mother.

The young reporter, who it’s believed is an employee of Prime’s regional Queensland network, is understood to have spotted the story on an early Seven news rundown and unwittingly published it to his social media account ahead of the 6pm news bulletin, breaking the embargo.

The story then spread quickly to other newsrooms.

Massoud did not return the Daily Telegraph’s call.

Seven was yet to respond to questions this afternoon.

  • What an idiot. Extremely unprofessional.
  • Where’s that name come from anyway geez
  • Can anyone shed any light as to why everyone hates this bloke more than the usual shit journo?

wasnt he the only guy to give it to Hadley back in the day?

    • Weidler i recall also stood up to Bolts; Weidler was copping one day (when v young) about not revealing his sources with Bolts and stood his ground. Bolts did not like it.

What i find interesting is the accusation - workplace threats? not good.

I also find the article interesting as it refers to Massoud as an expert.....

      • This 21 year old dope should really be ashamed of himself , if a little runt like Josh Massoud tells you he is going to slit your throat you either laugh hysterically or hit him for having the audacity to speak to you .

No doubt this little 21 year old dope is in his safe space being comforted by his Mothers chocolate crackles, young people today are made up of weakness .

  • No everyone is as brave as you, Fongy.

You can't take a threat from a Leb with a pinch of salt. He's prolly got about 20 cousins.

Reporting him to HR and the police is one thing, but crying about it shows true colours of a soft c*ck.
  • I would like a dollar for every time I was abused as an apprentice. I guess you are right Mitchy sounds like a workplace threat, it is a different world that we live in today. I hope this Cub reporter never makes it to middle Mgt. He wont survive.
    • Times have changed. This behaviour is uncalled for and shows genuine lack of control and foresight.
    • John in my work i would love to have a go at some people but would be turfed out; have harassment claims etc against me. I too copped a bit yrs ago in other areas of work but this one now we would not get away with it.I can get in some industry years ago like trades etc.

  • Just typical Leb communication although from the sounds of it it was nothing more than hot air from Massoud, nothing in it, just lads talk.
