I should have done the intelligent thing and just repeated the blog title as my blog - but I am too dumb to know how to do that successfully.

For some time now I have not given up on bagging Brad Arthur as NOT being up to the job as head coach at the Eels.

Whilst I may still hold some reservations toward him as a coach, I cannot help but Stand and applaud him as a MAN.

Just watched the interview with him from this morning and boy is he starting to look old.

He was extremely impressive when asked "How much more can you take?"

His reply was immediate and positive - "Yeah - I'm right"

The bright part of our future is the "culture" he is obviously cementing into our team's psyche.

He obviously has no intentions of backing away from his role as head coach, mentor and whatever else it takes to keep this team moving forward and up.

SO..... originally I declared I would change my avatar and wear the egg on my face if we ended this season winning more than we lost - and making the finals.

As a sign of true respect for Brad Arthur and what he has done - the avatar is now changed and will remain until 2017.

Well done Brad - you are proving you could well be "the best coach in the business"

  • On ya Col.

  • When a bloke can admit he was wrong, that guy becomes wiser.

    Well done ...Master.

    • Fek, Col must be the wisest guy around :)

Well I wasnt sure Id see it, but youve got to respect an old basard who admits he may be wrong. Well done Col.

  • Nice blog Col, I wonder though if anyone that signed Eagleton's petition considered if Brad Arthur could handle that knuckle head Ray Price sticking his beak into team affairs if we were unfortunate enough to have that petition get up. Ray has never been backwards in coming forwards with his opinions about the team even to the detriment of the club and so I could see it being a very challenging scenario for any half decent coach with that jibberer yapping in your ear about how things should be done or was done in his day.

    • Good but scary point Patsy.

Shame such a champ on the field could be such a chump off it. Very sad really.
    • Patsy - watching Brad in that interview, I reckon he would sit Price fair on his arse then simply go back to work.

I can imagine how it would go

Price - Brad I got some tips for you"

Arthur - "Only one tip for you dickhead - piss off"

Price - "Brad, I am a famous person here so..........."

      SMACK ! SPLAT

"Fcuk off - you are between me and MY team"

  • Col,  this guy is an exceptional leader. He is doing an outstanding job with this team facing a media driven onslaught.

  • Fek, Col must be the wisest guy around :)

The same thought occurred to me Rider. lol

I don't think there is ANYONE who would not admit they are well and truly over all this crap - but when someone like Brad Arthur stands up and does what he has, then EVERYONE should get behind him and show the respect due to a real MAN.

  • Good onya Col.

No bull, BA deserves to be coach of the year. Handsdown.
Never before in NRL history has one coach had to endure as much and to have our boys still 'turning up for each other'... it's simply astounding!
  • Reckon most coaches would have cracked under the pressure we have had this year. Also need to remember the bloke is a dad and a family man as well - I whinge about having too much on over weekends or not enough time to get to certain things due to work being busy (like many of us probably do)... but that's without having to deal with everything that BA has had to deal with this year... and on top of all of it, to still have the boys bonded so strong and winning games... pretty damn good effort.
