This will probably be my final blog before I duck out and leave it to you guys to debate everything from politics to sexuality over the off season.

I want to put on my bullet proof vest for a moment and say that I’m emphatically backing Brad Arthur in 2019. I realise I’m in a growing minority perhaps even for good reason. But I’m backing him. Why?

Cause right now he is our coach!! And while ever he’s coaching my team I’ll back him. When others in high positions decide its time to move on I’ll back the next guy. But I believe in backing your leader, so I’m going to back him.

Secondly, he has shown enough loyalty to Parramatta to warrant another shot after this train wreck of a season. You can’t compare him to our last few coaches as he has walked through so much more adversity and stood when he could have walked away.

Lastly, I think he can coach. I’m happy 10 rounds in next year to admit that I was wrong and the ship is sunk. But he’s shown enough in his first 4 years to suggest he sits just outside the top coaches when it comes to coaching ability and player management.

Lastly I want him to coach in 2019 because I think the last thing we need right now is a new coach. With the roster nearly settled and the salary cap filling up, to employ a new coach with the same roster seems like a disaster waiting to happen and more waiting for success.

I am standing with the coach and time will tell if the bus he’s driving is going somewhere. But Im on it!

  • Good on you mate.

It takes a special kind of fan to keep taking the hits - you obviously love punishment, a glutton some would say.

    • We are used of taking the hits Frank. Parra fans. The under dog. Plenty of lean seasons for a few highlights and we are still following. Crazy hey

  • So you're basically saying the roster that ba built is a disaster, and no other coach would improve our position.

That's enough to sack Arthur for mine
    • Not a disaster Chief. Some mistakes were made in the forwards but the backline is a ripper. Go back to first half of round 1. looked like a lamborgini. I am not sure why it stalled

  • At least you're making a call.

You're first reason is absolute madness. The rest is not v compelling but there's no point debating it anymore as he has been given another crack.

There can be absolutely no excuses anymore.

  • James Smith or James Arthur ???  Hmmmm.....

  • The way I have seen the fans react on social media is there are two camps. The sack Arthur camp and The give him one more chance camp. There is no middle of the road camp from what I have seen.

"Which is why I asked what you consider expensive? Would you say 500k? 600k?
If these players at up to 600k are classy & not expensive, it's a pretty small window reliant on what's available?
Which brings us back to the development angle, and that…"

"For sure, as mentioned, 800k & there's no way the Eels will look at him. 600-650k, is possibly a different story. As you mentioned with salary cap, those centres might've been 600k but that was decent coin also.
100% agree though that it all depends…"
