How many weeks to give him? what will be acceptable

With 0 and 5 start, top 4 finish in 2017 a disappointment is an understatement. Let's state a fact, had Parramatta failed to make the semi's last year Arthur I believe would've been sacked this morning. Fact we made top 4 last year has saved him, and rightfully so as he has proven he can coach, letting his stubbornness and lack of flexibility get in the way of achieving.

Now how long do we give him before we put him out of his misery. This situation is like running a former group 1 winning horse continuously and he's coming last every race, but you keep racing cause he has won a big race before but it's obvious he is struggling and is struggling to regain form.

Now I have been questioning would I sack him after penrith and I wouldn't. But if Canberra win on Saturday night, I would sack him Sunday morning, simple as that and if others disagree then thats fine. However, if they win on Saturday, I think he saves himself til RD 10 at least, if he has 2 or 3 wins by RD 10 then I think he's save himself for the year for the reason that there will be no point sacking him with only 2 months left in the year.

If he bloods a few youngsters and names a new team against Canberra and loses I would give him the benefit of the doubt, for the reason of lets see how this team does after a while, although if the same team is named and we lose, its more than enough.

Pin pointning a time frame is difficult though as we have no idea how Gurr deals with a situation like this, if the losses continue Im afraid to admit we will all have to patient to see the change that is needed. If Arthur turns it around, then he is a great coach for turning the tide and proves me wrong and ill be happy to admit it, but doubt it'll happen and it pains me to say that, the club winning is more important than an individual and how much we like them.

What does everyone else give him? How many losses to how many rounds

    • Yeah agree, cant see him being sacked and probably shouldnt be until we have a better coaches signature

  • What's the point of sacking him this season? Do you think whichever caretaker we replace him with will take us to the finals? When was the last time a caretaker coach took a team to the finals? Without consulting the record books, my memory tells me it was Jason Taylor who took over from Brian Smith in 2006. We finished 8th after a 9 game winning streak and were bundled out in round one of the finals. Made the finals twice in the next 11 seasons following that year.

    • Super, the reason the coach could be sacked this season would be because another coach we could be negotiating with may want to be in control of retention and recruitment.

      Its that simple super.

Why arr you worried about the finals when forwards our roster is well below standard.

  • As a coach BA is in the business of getting results. He really has no excuse. That's what he has signed up for. He has a good team but can't get the best out of them. That's the worse position to be in .... all talent (yes lacking in a few places) but no direction. That is the role of the captain and the coach. To lead, to direct, to manage and to get the best out of the talent we have. To have a plan for every game. Regardless of injuries.

The team lacks confidence and to be honest BA looks like he is lacking in confidence too.

If he loses the next 2 he will be on the ropes.

  • Just imagine if BA was shafted or resigned mid season then who steps up to the plate? Joey Grima? Nathan Cayless? We have very little backup.

  • Sacking him now is not the answer.

Even if we got Smith, Maguire, Toovey or Hasler, it won't make a difference short term.

The players themselves have to play their way out of this slump and/or (if rumors are true) 1 or 2 players have to go.

A quick fix is not the answer.

  • Calm down and let him coach the year out you emotional child.
It would appear that Parramatta isn't the type of establishment that makes short-sighted trigger-happy coaching changes anymore.
  • I agree with everything u said LB and knowing how lafargic and slow acting the parra board is they’ll most likely give Arthur an opportunity to rebuild his team one more time before they put him on the streets. BA will be around for a while longer and i dont think parras problems are directly his fault but one things for is that the players are running a riot on him, they’re taking advatage of him like a cheap hooker and he needs to get a grip or GO!
    • Mr 2145 just curious but is 2145 the post code for Wentworthville? I grew up there and spent 20 years of my life there but it’s been so long can’t recall the post code but when I saw your ‘name’ it kind of reminded me.

  • All i want is accountability our junior development and pathways have failed BA is responsible for that our team lack anything resembling a game plan BA must be accountable for all of that

No doubt he's got some issues, pretty evident when he's running.
