Fuis not happy!

And why should he behttp://m.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/parramatta-cult-figure-fuifui-moimoi-walks-out-over-eels-finals-snub/story-fni3ga7r-1227029888173PARRAMATTA cult figure Fuifui Moimoi walked out on Eels training on Tuesday, and later told friends and teammates he was “shattered”, after learning he will not make a farewell appearance at Parramatta Stadium this Friday night. The Daily Telegraph understands Moimoi, who remains unsigned for next season, failed to finish a gym session after coach Brad Arthur revealed he would be 18th man for the blockbuster Friday Night Football clash with Manly. The match is the Eels last at Pirtek Stadium this year, and Moimoi was desperate to play at the ground where the ‘Foooooi’ chant has followed his every carry for 11 years and 201 games. While the Eels declined to comment on the issue, a team list released late Tuesday named the 34-year-old prop to play NSW Cup with Wentworthville on Saturday.Currently sitting in ninth place, Parramatta must beat the Sea Eagles to keep their finals hopes alive. The four players named on the bench for the Manly match are Peni Terepo, David Gower, Darcy Lussick and Ben Smith.Having played against Canterbury last week, it is understood Moimoi was desperate to not only thank the Blue and Gold Army for a decade of support, but help catapult the only club he has ever played NRL football for into one more finals series. The Eels have plans to celebrate the careers of Moimoi, Smith and injured centre Willie Tonga with a special presentation on Friday night. The Tongan enforcer, for so long the jokester of the Eels squad, is tipped to attend rather than disrupt his club’s playoff push.Among the most recognisable faces in the NRL, Moimoi made his NRL debut for the Eels way back in 2004, ironically, against the Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval.Since then, the 110kg prop has represented New Zealand, scored a try in the 2009 Grand Final, even had a song created in his honour by the 2GB Continuous Call Team.Hailing from a small island of Tonga, the hulking forward has received expressions of interest from several English Super League clubs for 2015.Wentworthville play Penrith at Sportingbet Stadium on Saturday.Moimoi has been named in the No. 10 jersey, with Luke Kelly playing halfback and Pauli Pauli in the second-row.

  • Fui's been a fantastic servant but we're playing for a finals berth. He's no longer one of our best props. Sure he runs hard but he doesn't bust the line anymore. Junior Paulo is a lot more dangerous and has a lot more impact. He led our pack against a lot of more fancied sides. Sometimes tough decisions need to be made. The team comes first. No disrespect to Fuifui but I'd much rather we beat Manly and keep our finals hopes alive than weaken our pack to provide a sentimental send off.

    • Lussick and Smith both dont bust the line or run hard so how they can be picked in front of Fui is beyond me. The balance of the side would still be fine if Fui was picked ahead of Smith or Lussick.
    • Yep, love the fui, but falls off far to many tackles now
    • Lussick and Smith are both very good workers off the ball. Fui is not
    • Lussicks best game was last week. He was actually hitting the ball with intent
    • Totally agree. No place for sentimentality these days. Walking out on training won't help his cause. Perhaps they could do a lap of honour for him.
  • This is outrageous. But then again we do need to win this game. Sorry Fui.
  • I feel sorry for Fui as he was a great player but he has to accept the fact he can no longer keep up with these younger players. The club has to put a chance to make the finals above any sentiment.

  • He still offers a lot more than what lussick does

I see it either being a close game with Parra winning or us winning by over 12 points."

I totally agree with your comments regarding the importance and benefits regarding local juniors at discounted rates, however,  this is only a factor with their 1st contract if they show promise.  Once a player starts showing they have regular…"
