FKN CHEATS!!!

Melbourne have possibly been caught rorting the salary cap and the NRL may take all their points.

Speculation at this stage, but it the truth emerges that they cheated last year, I will be furious. Lost the Grand Final to a pack of cheats...

  • Can't take the premiership off them, but they should lose the equivalent points this year

eg. If they finished on 34pts last year. They should lose 34 pts this year, so they are currently at -24pts

    won't happen, but it should!
  • Of course they are above the salary cap, but is whether they have flouted the rules or if they have cleverly manipulated the salary cap rule enough (for it to be ok legally speaking). Hopefully that makes sense, but I am sure most people will agree with me on this,
    • Cleverly manipulating the salary cap is cheating.

    • But not all clubs are doing it to the extent that the NRL feels they don't deserve their competition points, surely?
  • Dont the Storm have some exemptions with the salary cap so they can attract more players and grow the NRL in VIC?
  • Manipulating the salary cap is not necessarily cheating - you can use third party 'sponsors' to bring up a players pay as long is it is deemed independant of the club.
  • But having said that - Melbourne do have four of the highest paid players in the NRL probably where most other clubs have maybe one player in that category.

Unless the other players are prepared to play for a roast meal at the leaugue's club after the game it has always appeared suspect.
  • I gotta say any team with Slater, Inglis, Smith and other origin players like white, Johnson is doing something dodgy.

I mean they were owned by News Ltd who owns half of the NRL. I've always felt that is a massive conflict of interest. This organisation will always be looking for an edge over competitors, whether it be on the field (the wrestle) or off (their books). It's no surprise to me if true.

I think Schubert needs to answer why it's taken so long to discover this, conveniently after they've appeared in 4 GFs and built their membership substantially. The core group is this team has been together for 4-5years.
  • Cooper Cronk would be almost in a Slater/Inglis category of payment as well by now wouldn't he. I know Bellamy considers him a important as the rest.
    • Yeah definitely I even forgot to add him, it's hard to believe they are playing it straight. I hate the storm and everything they stand for.
