The tits would have to top up his salary, theyd have to chip in a few hundred k if he was going to come for 600k.
You guys keep missing the point, no one will pay more than $500k .....Titans will not pay anything if he doesn't play....why should they.
The sacrifice is Hayne's.....will he play for 500k as against staying at Titans and receive 1.2m.......if he does it makes a few people on this site very wrong about him being money hungry.
I have believed all along that Hayne was and is very badly managed....just don't think he is smart enough to understand that.
The only possible retrieve is that Titans may say he is such a cancer to them that they are better paying away the difference and spending the balance on a player who wants to be there!
It will be an attrition process......
In a market of supply and demand, there is no point in bidding for someone you don't want.....
This is a situation now of bidding for someone to leave!
I also believe that Parra is the only club that Hayne can make it back through.....the only other's would be where you have a very strict coaching regime like Bellamey or Bennett....both those geographies do not suit.....Hayne would walk over most of the other NRL coaches......BA knows him well enough to have KPI's all over him!
PS I am not sure how public it is but Haynes TPA of $400k has ended at the completion of this season gone. $1.2m is against the cap for the Titans......
Hayne is worth what the market is willing to pay, and given the utter BS that's followed him for years now his market value has plummeted. Same as Foran. They're proven liabilities, and the market reflects that.
In addition NRL need all good press they can get and a Hayne back at the eels and travelling well will, save their bacon
This is the point that most people here who say Hayne is too risky a buy don't seem to understand. BA would be in total control and have the power to drop Hayne anytime if he feels its the right thing to do. This not only safe guards us against any unwanted disruption from Hayne but it will also force Hayne to tow the line or its off to Wenty for 2018 with no contract extension in 2019.
Exactly right. I think a smallish 1 year deal is the way to go. If he want the big dollars he will have to show BA that he's worth that much to the team. BA threw Sandow to Wenty on multiple occasions for the same reasons, and will do it again if he needs to. The difference this time is that the team will survive without Hayne, and he knows that.
