Eels trials

The Pirtek Parramatta Eels have announced their trial games for the 2012 season.

The side will play the Wests Tigers and Penrith Panthers in consecutive weeks in the leadup to the 2012 season proper.

Exact times of each clash will be confirmed closer to the date.

Disappointed by the lack of a home game. And why are we playing in bleedin' Gosford?

  Not all Eels fans live in Parramatta. I grew up in Seven Hills but have lived in Terrigal for the last 20 years, I love it when the Eels play up here!

  I agree - I went to the game at Campbelltown last year which is pretty local for both clubs - neither is anywhere near Gosford!

Would've been great to see them in Port Macquarie. We get stuck with The Riff vs The Knights every year. I suppose better than nothing.

Yes and we need to win these trial games - it's so important!!!! ;)

I would rather play away so we get a feel for the ground as we will be playing at Penrith Park during the year....

but i think we need at least one more trial game - we usually play the Roosters??

  Why is it important to win trial games? We always go shithouse when we do well in pre-season.

  Winning trial games is not an indicator that a team will have a winning season.
  
  Given that trial games are often not played under NRL conditions (in quarters, rather 2 halves, or with unlimited interchange being a couple of common differences), and that coaches use trial matches to test combinations, or get a look at new/fringe/young players - it's often difficult to darw any kind of form line from results.
  
  Sure, you'd like to win your trial matches (it is better than losing them - if for no other reason than to start building confidence), but it's not the end of the world if you don't).

We won 2/3 trial games this year and look how well we went. Trial games don't mean anything as they aren't played at 100% they are just so that the players get ready for the season ahead and play footy against an opposition
