Ben Smith is fit to play and has held his place in the starting 13, Jeff Robson has kept the number seven jersey and Krisnan Inu is the unlucky member to miss out on the 17, but has been named on an extended bench.

Coach Daniel Anderson has stuck primarily with the players that took the side to the grand final with the exception of including his two big buys Timana Tahu and Justin Poore in the starting side. Tahu pushes Inu onto an extended interchange bench while Poore's inclusion will see Fuifui Moimoi come off the bench.

The other new buy Shane Shackleton has also made it onto the bench as has Kris Keating.

Daniel Anderson said in the Eels media statement: "“It was a difficult decision to finalise this team but I’m comfortable with what has been selected."

“I’m looking forward to seeing Justin Poore and Shane Shackleton make their debut in the blue and gold and they will be excellent additions to the team and club.”

This team really couldnt be any better at the moment. Maybe as the season progresses KK to half, and bring Inu on to the bench. Now thats SPARK!

Can fully understand that KK is a gun Phil but I still maintain that Robbo hasn't done anything to NOT be picked and played a quiet, but big part in helping us to the GF last year. I would still love to see KK at rake for a game or two or interchanged there. Long term though, the 'kids' will be halves ie: Morts at 7 and KK at 6 IMO. Imagine Mateo and Tahu together in the centres. Unfortunately Feleti probably doesn't have the speed though but man that would be fun to watch.

Hi Billblogs... again, this isnt a Robson bash but this is where its at :-

Robson is never going to win you a game, he is an organiser but nothing more then that. K Keating has the potential to be a great footballer, but Parra need to keep him on the field. Mortimer, judging from last years football, is both a good organiser and a clever ball runner. So:

6. Keating
7. Mortimer

looks a lot more apealling to Parra fans than...

6. Mortimer
7. Robson

Bad Luck to both Kris's you both should be starting side but itsonly the 1st game of the Season, still have 25 more rounds to go.
Look at Robbo and Lowrie and Kingston... they were not even close to making the Bench last year yet they all played in the GF.
Good Luck Boys may be best team win on the night "PARRA that is "

Really disappointed inu missed out. Personally i would keep reddy on grothes wing and play tahu with burt. The best combination and was really good in 07 was tahu inside inu. But were does that leave burt. Need him in the side.

Looking at the team there isnt many weaknesses i guess you could say the halves but that would only be in experience not ability. There would be teams that would have Shackleton Moimoi and Mannah all as starters we have the luxury of them coming on midway through fresh.

Defensively the only problem might be Grothe coming off his wing but he and Reddy working together generally are able to get back when caught out.

As for attack i think it could be slow to start as they haven't played together in a while this time of year ball control is usually an issue. If they can keep it simple in there own half and leave the expansive play for once we have made it into the attacking area we could put plenty of points on any side.

This game will be a tough opener for us the dragons will be solid defensively and looked pretty good in attack during the charity shield. I do think we can win tho and will be at the game bring it on, cant wait...

Just curious i use to play against a guy name jason baiteri (i think thats how its spelled) he played under 20's last year but isnt in the wenty side i thought he would have been good enough to make it, does anyone know if he is injured or has changed clubs?

I think he went to easts didn't he?

Yep. Top player but his size will make it hard for him to play NRL

In all the trial matches this year, the first try was scored by the oppsition out wide so boys muscle up out wide.

Up here in Brissy we have to fricken wait till 9;30 boo hoo.

I think it's a massive mistake to leave Inu out of the squad. He is just way too talented, powerful and quick. Jury is out on Tahu.

I would have Inu in the side and have Grothe coming off the bench. KK in the side instead of Robson. Then you have the highest impact bench in the game: Fui, Shack, Mannah and Grothe. Wow!

yeh all robson is really doing in the larger sense is limiting the amount of forwards/versatility on our bench.

in saying that what a bench it is!!!

thats the best looking side i could of thought of 2 more nights of waiting weeeeeee
