Eels close in on McPherson Former South Sydney forward Shannan McPherson is close to signing a deal to play with Parramatta in 2015. McPherson has spent the past three seasons playing for English club Salford, where he developed impressive attacking skills to add to his defensive repertoire. The former Rabbitoh decided months ago to return to Australia for personal reasons - his young family is based in Sydney - and he has been in the sights of several clubs. The 28-year-old was recently given a clearance to play in the NRL after Salford released him from the final year of his contract. Expect the Eels to announce his signing sometime in the next couple of weeks.
EELS SIGN SHANNAN McPHERSON
PARRAMATTA has signed former South Sydney forward Shannan McPherson on a two-year deal. McPherson has spent the past two seasons in the English Super League playing for the Salford club and has developed into a handy ball-playing prop or second-rower in that time.
The classy forward will add strength and depth to the Eels pack and will be a handy addition to coach Brad Arthur’s squad.
Several NRL clubs were interested in McPherson when he announced he was returning to the NRL a few months ago and the Eels wrapped up his signature today.
