I was watching tonight's match on FoxSports ..... Parramatta had the ball on the attack, Mannah was tackled and trying to get up to play the ball, there was about 10-12 minutes to go ... not that this incident had any REAL bearing on the match, but the referee was heard saying these words -
"Second effort, second effort, that's a penalty"
(this I believe was from the "pocket referee")
Strange thing happened ..... NO PENALTY TO PARRAMATTA!!!
Not that I subscribe to conspiracy theories (or believe that Elvis is flipping burgers down at the local "Hungry Jacks"!!) ... but jeez, I wonder how often THIS went on tonight and on other games??!!??
Wonder if Ricky Stuart will mention anything about it.
Did anyone else hear that tonight on the telecast? (besides "Sixtiesboy" in whom sent me a text stating that he heard it as I was typing the same text to him!)
Just wondering!

I hear this quite often actually. Not only with Parramatta. I am sure that somewhere deep down in the long list of horrible rules in the NRL that is states something along the lines of "The main referee is able to overrule the pocket referees interpretations" or something like that to cover their assssess.
You often hear the pocket referee call "Forward, forward, forward" for forward passes, only for the main referee to decide that the infringement wasn't IMPORTANT ENOUGH to warrant blowing his whistle.
One of the frustrating thing about all the grey areas in the rules. Yeah, he held him down longer than he should've, but, was it long enough for a penalty? Yeah, that ball went marginally forward, but, was it enough for a penalty? Yeah, he had his arm on his neck in the tackle, but, was it enough for a penalty? Yeah, he was laying in the ruck area, but, was it enough for a penalty? Yeah, he made late contact with the kicker, but, was it enough for a penalty? Yeah, he changed direction to help defend his fullback catching the ball, but, was it enough for a penalty? Yeah, the decoy runner made marginal contact with the defender, but, was it enough for a penalty?
The referees can, will, and do decide matches based on inconsistent interpretation of the ruling, and it's harming the sport.
Maybe "Joe the camera man" is working for Fox Sports now.
HA! nice one!! :)
Parra would have to be the most penalised team in the NRL. and most of the penalties are unwarranted and have cost the team at least 3 games in my opinion.
So when you look at the stats of the game, it looks like it was even.
Blow up again sticky!!!!
its ALWAYS like this....its a joke
