Guys who CAN'T tackle:

Ryan Morgan

Chris Sandow

Luke Burt

Guys who are POOR tacklers:

Cheyse Blair

Casey Mcguire

Ben Roberts

Guys who can tackle but can't be bothered:

Fui Fui Moi Moi

Joseph Paulo

Tanya Lasalo

Jarryd Hayne

Remi Maitua

There is a dominoe effect in the team starting with guys who simply can't tackle or who are poor tacklers, They consistantly miss tackles at crucial times, these events trigger guys who can tackle but have poor attitudes to drop their heads and take there bodies off the line. Suddenly its seems half the team can't tackle and things look very bad, truth is, its not all bad and i think it can easily be Improved a little team "rebalance".

1st change: Ryan Morgan must be replaced by Jordan Aitkens immediately, I don't know how much more Jordan can do to get a call up, an extremely solid player and thats all we need.

2nd change: Cheyse Blair to be replaced at center by Pat O'hanlon, Pat is still a little light to play Second row at NRL level, but he would be a fine Defensive center who has an ability to run good lines as a bonus. I would drop Cheyse till he get his D right, which in my opinion is still a little way off where it needs to be.

At the moment thats all the changes i would make, Its only a small change, but i believe its effects would filter through the team and the attitudes would improve giving us a team that would actually look like tackling a hot lunch.

  • ParaT, you said it, POOR ATTITUDE, thats the key word.......... n i dont know wether id put fui in the group of coulnt be bothered........cheers mate, your spot on about attitude

    • I like both Morgan & Blair but.... Their positions are very important Defensively, we can carry a halfback and winger with poor defence, but we certainly can't carry two centres as well! The whole team attitudes will improve if they actually believe in the fringes holding!

  • It's more than just bad individual tackling problems, it's the whole defensive structure, how many times this year have opposition teams manage to find massive overlaps out wide, too often there have been 2 on 1 situations and wingers and centres end up scoring untouched. I really have no idea what structure if any Kearney has them working on. Is it up and in compressed defence? It can't be slide defence because they never cover themselves out wide.

People say its not the coaches fault, he's not the one missing tackles, but it is his fault when teams constantly score out wide with ease and he does nothing to combat it. This to me is evidence Kearney is not up to the job and needs help, at least in regards to defensive coaching. We all know Peter sharp was our defensive coach last year and for whatever reason has moved on to Cronulla, but was his role ever really filled by anyone else?

If its not fixed soon we are not only in trouble this year but in even more trouble next year when our number one tackler Hindmarsh retires.
    • The structures are fine, its the key personnel! It so obvious, every halfback/five eight is having a field day against us.

Tariq Sims, Tony Williams, Feleti Mateo, Ben Teo, Dave Taylor, Jeremy Smith, Ryan Hoffman, Ben Creagh and god knows who else have the jobs at running hard into our edges! Can Sandow/Morgan on one side contain that? what about Mcguire/Blair? you need to replace at least 2 of these 4 players with Defensive players. I would keep Sandow he brings the most in attack, but 2 or 3 have to go back to Wenty.

  • Do some people assume players are only just born moments before they start 1st grade? Seriously the guys know how to play football, you can't blame the coach for the players performances, but you can blame him for selecting guys who don't have the ability to perform their roles, Morgan & Blair look great because of the finish & power wow factor, but the truth is their defense would struggle in a NSW cup side.

Aitkens, Ben Smith and Patty O'hanlon would be my first 3 choice centres, they give you size, power, height and are all great defenders.

  • Its so sad that I watched the Bulldogs and Titans Game this weekend and didnt watch parra and Its even sadder that the Titans can put in a fantastic defensive effort even with little blokes like Srama, while our team can't for some reason.

    • They are charging out of the line because they have poor defensive instincts, some players have good instincts and can read attack formations and unfortunately this can't be coached, they need to select the right type of player to balance the attack with defense, at the moment we are too attack heavy to play a grind style of game. lets face it Hayne, Sandow & Roberts shouldn't need world class attacking centres they could put Julia Gillard through a gap!
