Daniel Alvaro

Does anyone else notice the bloke get smashed every time he runs the ball. For me Kelepi should be picked on the bench as a forward before him. Kelepi by all reports killed it in Wenty and ran hard all day

  • Ive never been a big fan of Alvaro but apart from a knock on i thought he did pretty well today, ran with a lot of purpose, looks like hes bulked up a bit, he does get hammered a bit but credit to him today.

  • Cant question his commitment thats for sure..he nevers shirks his task
  • Alvaro has a lot of heart, the reason he gets smashed so much is because he runs so upright and gives his tacklers an immediate advantage over his centre of gravity, just needs to change his posture a bit or angle his runs, too predictable but he always gets back up. Still young and wanted to do a lot of the hard yards. Less errors in his game then Kelepi, I think he did well and made 138m off the bench.
    • Agreed BK, centre of gravity is one thing. He's a good kid, and could even bulk little more IMO. Seems to have a good motor. Like him as player.
    • Absolutely Mitchy, Having him sub for mannah is ideal you have two players that want to get some contact and have a massive motor. I noticed he tries to compensate for his awkward running style by finding his front. He tries to find his foot often and protects that ball. Manly were a tough team, they hit hard I dont think anyplayer got off not being hammered, Alvaro was more noticeable because he seeked that ball and ran it straight at Trbojevic, Fonua-Blake and Taupau
    • BK very good post your exactly right, i was thinking the exact same thing watching him on the weekend, hes struggling to get his body angle right on impact i recon.

  • I reckon he did pretty well today. O'Brien who I liked last ttear was the disappointment for me.
  • Though he did nothing special, he ran well defended well and did his job. Yes he dropped 1 pass but that was understandable as it was a crap pass from Kaysa. Always have liked Kelepi but never seemed to reach his potential and what he does in wenty does not mean he will do as good in fg, a different kettle of fish.

    • Crap pass from Brown!!
  • I thought he was good I was actually considering giving him points in player of the match. Props get smashed mate it's in their job description
