I've been wanting John Folau to move into the forwards for a couple of years now, and he's done so recently and is reportedly have something of a resurgence as a second rower. Last week, he made the ISP Cup team of the week.
With his official stats at 193cm and 112kg, he'd already be just about the biggest body in our team. He's brutishly strong, and obviously pretty damn quick for a guy of his size. Now, that he's made that transition to the forward, maybe we should just keep pushing him closer to the middle. When I look around at the off-contract props, I just don't see any that are going to solve our issue. It's very apparent we need a big, powerful body to start off our sets and even looking towards next year, we need an answer. (Kane Evans is big but he's also been a guy that has worked better off a lead forward)Folau is naturally big boy and if he's trained as a prop, I could see him easily getting over the 115kg mark.
Interestingly, our Wenty team this week had three blokes in the pack, bigger than any of our forwards in Vave, Ualesi and Folau. I don't think there's a heap wrong with out pack. One big bopper to start off a set would make all the difference, and given Folau finally looks like he's finding his place in football, I reckon he'd be worth having an experiment with.

But i dont see him as a prop. I just think there will be too much work for him.
Agree pops most of these islanders lack a bit of ticker.
I mean, first it's Gutherson to hooker which was never going to happen, and now John Folau to prop ?
Second row maybe, but prop ?
I don't think he has the right body shape to hold weight
Ruben was mad though...when he had to play local footy in Canberra because of the superleague bullshit teams wanted to forfeit.
1 man and players shit themselves.
Brown mau evans ulaseli and alvaro starting not in the order obviously
Credit to you phil, youre always thinking outside the box and you have the balls to take your radical ideas public lol.
Agree he might go ok in the forwards with a pre season training there under his belt, dont know about Prop though.
I can't see Falau making it as a centre - not at Parra anyway. It's been a few years now and he's not even close.
He reminds me of T-Rex.
I reckon his future - if he has one - is definitely in the forwards. He's reportedly killing it out wide so he could well be a hit in closer I reckon. Second rowers have to do a massive amount in the game these days and Falou's 2 biggest attributes - size and speed - could make him a genuine front row juggernaut.
As Pop said, it probably all comes down to the size of his motor - and desire.
Definitely worth a shot though - he who dares wins :)
Kram, good reply, personally not sure about Folua, but reading reports of the ISP matches and they had another win today against Blacktown Sea Eagles Wentworthville Magpies 18 (G Jennings 2, M Niukore, C Nelson tries; N Davis goal) def Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles 8 (J Hastings, P Schuster tries) which augers well as they are now showing some form and its about time.
With what Phil has said though its not the first person to say since he returned from injury this year and gone into the forwards he is showing a lot more form, thing is with this given his size, if he can get something akin to a heart transplant, he could be a fair player and worth persisting with. Thing is what's his defence like now not much good having a player who can go hard in attack but can't back it up with defence.
Given his size and still young, if he was to succeed it has to be in the forwards, so a few games to prove his worth. Notice that Niokure again scored, he's a player I would like to see finally get a top grade spot, wonder how he would go at 9
