Much has been written about the Eels Member Council of late and the important job they have in improving Eels members and fans experience. One other committee that was formed last year - and arguably just as important - is the Constitutional Reform Committee that has been formed at the behest of the Parramatta Leagues Club (PLC) incorporating the Parramatta National Rugby League Club (PNRL)
I thought it would be a good idea to put something up about the MO and composition of the committee to keep us updated about what is going on and when information comes to hand it can be posted here.
The purpose of the committee is to assist the club in reviewing and updating the constitution as the club moves forward to a new era of good corporate governance. It is anticipated that with the assistance of the committee, any changes will be put to members for voting at the PLC AGM in 2015.
Last month the PLC advised the following;
“As advised at the May 2014 AGM, the PLC Board is committed to constitutional reform and in November the first meeting of the constitutional reform committee was held. From a number of applicants, three members were selected to assist with the process.
The scope of this committee is to review advice from our specialist Club legal adviser along with PLC Board input and consult members on reform initiatives for the organisation.
This process is off to a very positive start and I am confident that constitutional reform is in good hands. Special thanks to Joy Cusack, Chris Jurd and Andrew Cordwell for volunteering their time and expertise in this vital initiative.”
Since then we haven’t heard anything more on the important work of this group. However I heard that the committee have met a number of times since their first meeting back in November and will be meeting again soon.
I am hoping at that meeting they agree on a set of recommendations to take to the PLC board on proposed changes to the constitution before they are put out for discussion with members. It is at that point when members will be consulted.

I think a lot of what they've been working on may have been halted following the cessation of funding to the football club.

Nice one Jimmy, it would be nice to hear a bit more about this.
Chris Jurd is a member here whom knows the club very well, maybe Chris could give us a run down.
I just want a committee committee.
You can NEVER have enough committees.
Goes without saying.
Lol, is he a good ref AAE?
Actually, committees and working groups I think work brilliantly in sporting club. You've got hundreds of really smart people in your supporter base, who would be willing to contribute their expertise and experience for nothing, so why wouldn't you make good use of that. The more people are involved with their club, the better in my view and if you can tap into smart people at no cost why wouldn't you do it?
''hundreds of really smart people in your supporter base'' steady on, that might be pushing it.
Sadly , a better ref than a player .Retired in 2007 after 20 years . Played before that and team won the season after I retired .It is intended that matters be discussed at forums in the Club after propositions have been finalised .We hope that will be in the next few weeks .
