BUY SOME EFFING PLAYERS AAAAARRRGGHH

It's killing me seeing all the other teams making good signings in the last week or two.. I know it's hard to attract talent to the shithole that is currently Parramatta but surely the new stadium's gotta be a selling point. C'mon Parra, buy some quality so we've got something to look fwd to and get excited about for next year, cause atm I'm not seeing any positive signs for 2019.

  • Yes Paulo make a difference but he going to need another big body to help him so we going to need klemmer the way it looks he mite have to leave the dog so we should throw every cent we have left for him n i think to get him we mite have to offer him around $750.000 to get him or he will go to the knights

Andrew johns said last nite he on $700.000 at the dogs but they can only give him $500.000 they got no more to give n he not happy so if we offer around $750.000 he come to us i hope

  • Tell you what it's a mistake going for big props with the interchange going to be lessened you have to have balance with your size.Props are going to have to be able to play bigger minutes.

Leg Speed in the fowards is going to be a bigger asset going foward.

    • Not this bs again. They said that when interchanges dropped to 8 and the big players still dominate. It'll be years before drops to 6 if ever.

  • Why do we need more players, we made the top 4 last yr with this team!!!!!!!!!!

  • You pointed out why we haven't recruited.  Players just aren't attracted to joining the eels. It has been an issue since before BA time as well.  With ongoing changes at board level and previous merry go round of coaches player agents steer players elsewhere unless we offer lot more then other teams.

Newcastle has managed their rebuild by using newcastle as a lifestyle designation for players and their families.  Similarly with dragons and sharks on coast while the tigers have recruited off the back of Ivan Cleary's appointment.  The tigers also allow player agents control of various situations such as signing a quality player if another player with same agent signs on inflated value.  We all know how the dogs managed their roster as well when the contract values came out.  Parra is playing by NRL rules and guidelines more then even the nrl owned clubs are and have refused to look into TPAs while we are in administration so we can't compete with the other Sydney clubs at the moment.

Add in our training facilities are disgraceful for a supposedly rich club considering the league's club backing and it no wonder we only attract players at end of career or over pay for potential in younger players and juniors.

It is not as if we haven't tried to sign players but I think we will have more success after the review.  Once we place better structures around the whole football dept then we can undertake a solid process to find the the right coach in 2020.  I would rather wait till the club is running properly before we burn another coach with same issues we currently have.  This along with the new stadium and training facilities can hopefully turn around the eels and maybe we will be able attract a player in their prime instead of crap we have signed for over 20 years.

  • Get a decent coach and players would wanna play for this great club. We are a pathetic team run by stupid people.

    • Get a decent coach? Was he decent in 2016? And 2017? Think so; he must have changed a bit.....it seems the club will keep him and they probably should considering what the former boards did.

      • Yes he has Mitchy. Ever heard of a coach losing ideas and going stale - exhibit A Brad Arthur.

  • Hmmm, unless someone is being paid massive overs, why would a player want to come to a bottom of the ladder team where the Club is a rabble. Players failing to earn their massive dollars, have dug this hole for the Club.
  • Players go where the money is full stop. Bernie Gurr saying "We won't be going down the third party deals path for a while" is simply just mind-blowing. There's your answer to our disgraceful season. There's the answer they're looking for in this so called "Review" they're doing now.

I am probably in the minority but for me, Talagi on the bench is ridiculous.
It is hot and humid in Darwin and four forwards on the bench makes a lot more sense.

"I think tuivita could easily make the jump to nsw cup already. He is only turning 19 this year. I think the club are playing him in Flegg solely because of his age. We have other forwards who need game time but are not eligible for Flegg and below.  "

"Sanders was going to leave regardless of whether he played recently. Talagi IMO is always going to resign as he has been training at fullback all pre-season. It is not a decision they have made just now to keep him at the club. "

"I don't see an issue with Brad bringing him off the bench and giving him NRL game time. Most fullbacks don't debut at fullback. They get slowly brought through either on the wing or off the bench.
He'll no doubt spend time at Cup level throughout…"
