"Sanders defence in the halves is actually better than Hands. NSW Cup stats would back this statement up as well. Hands is actually a poor defender in the halves. He is barely cup quality in cup. Hands is an out and out hooker in my opnion."
"I see hands on the bench as coverage for sanders in case his defence doesn't hold up rather than just to relieve lussick."

Yes this is generally how RL works Tim.
No he's called the Dummy HALF... Every one else in the team is a full dummy the hooker is only half as dumb
Bevan French couldnt knock the top off a baby capacino, hows he going to defend at hooker?
He also discussed roster management which was very interesting. Pointed out how hard it is to attract players and that fans are unaware of amount of players they chase unsuccessfully which never hit headlines. It isn't about money but there lots of reasons when comes to recruitment and attracting players.
His main reason is players prefer to stay in Sydney instead of moving to a regional town. To combat that he has targeted players who may be more likely to accept change of lifestyle due to their age and families. He also uses the town of Newcastle and lifestyle as a recruitment tool along with the great support the team gets in the region.
My question is what can parra do to attract players. Will the new stadium and better training facilities help us attract players? Our training facilities are well below standard of some other clubs and our position in the middle of Sydney isn't really a selling point. Look at clubs like Saints and Cronulla who have attracted quality players over past few years as they can sell the lifestyle not only the club.
Other then paying lot more then other clubs, club success, coaching structure and opportunity to play with certain players are an attraction for players but I can't see any current positives in any of the criteria I just listed. This isn't new either and has been a problem long before BA took over with us attracting very little talent without risking overs for someone.
What can eels do in addition to getting a new coach to attract elite players. There is obviously lot more then just BA coaching ability or poor results this season that is holding us back.
I know some player agents don't want to deal with eels and prefer steer players elsewhere and this is also an issue that pre-dates BA time. Hopefully the new stadium and better support can sway few quality players in near future as previous blog has pointed out the current failings in our junior set up means we can't rely on juniors like we used to.
