The qualities that made Harrigan a top whistleblower - ie assertive and back yourself - make him a terrible refs boss ie nothing is wrong and I cant accept feedback or criticism
On his watch the 2nd ref came into play which imo was an acknowledgement that wrestling / grappling overtook the game and a specific official was needed to police the ruck. I heard Mick Cronin on the ABC a couple of months ago and he said for almost 100 years a player got tackled, the defender got up straight away and the attacker played the ball. Now both officials scream out dominant, surrender etc etc etc.

Bernard Suttor has to be the worst referee in the game with Ben Cummins a close second. They're both incredibly disrespectful to players and cannot read the game at all. They both think they're the best in the game and in reality they'd be lucky to pass their referees test if they had to go again.
