Beau Scott and Anthony Watmough should not start next year.

I have been very adamant that Anthony Watmough and Beau Scott and not worthy of starting next year the Eels have one of the best 2nd Row rotations in the NRL and starting Watmough and Scott will been great 5 years ago but know they are too old and injury prone. Beau Scott edge defence at the backend of the year with Knights was poor. Watmough was pretty much a non- factor for the majority of the season and was injured on numerous occasions. The Eels need to start Manu Mau, Tepai Moeroa who will much better next year overcoming his shoulder injury, and have Kenny Edwards at lock. Edwards was one of our best 2 years ago and his injury and suspension made him miss entire 2015 season, Edwards was sublime ball skills and footwork and with Pauli Pauli coming off the bench it will make the Eels have one of the most dynamic backrow in the NRL.

  • Attack wise that backrow would be fantastic, heck even defensively it's sound. But what Choc and Scott have that none of those players have is big game experience and NRL experience. It's something that we've lacked for a long time so there's no need to take it away once we have it.

  • Scott & Watmough will start in the back-row/lock roles respectively.

You need leadership, presence and authority in your forward pack, and they both provide that in spades.

Their experience will only help the likes of Moeroa & Ma'u develop further. Both are still relatively inexperienced and need leaders around them.

    • Exactly right. Scott and Choc have the experience required ( at rep level and GF winners ) to lead our inexperienced players. I've never been a fan of Scott, but I can see what BA is trying to achieve with him.
  • Yeah we'll pay them over a 1m a year to play 25mins a week.  Derp derp derp.

  • Morea will improve more from being on the bench he will change with choc and scott witch will give him experience in each role.
  • Morea needs to start hitting the holes And lines again like he use to, just hope his shoulder is ok now.
    • Jack the main reason Tepai struggled this year was the injury but the 2nd point Id like to make is that

The coaching was depolorable with our edge back rowers. Finally Tepai was found out because the idiots running the offseason weights program fucked up the kid by packing way too much size. I hope he drops 10kg in the Summer because the kid as mongrel in spades and can be way more effective and agile with less weight.

I just hope our coaches dont go and cut his progression next year because the kid is prob the best junior we have coming up and he needs to be educated better than this years debacle.

I blame BA cause dick for brains never gave the kid a 4 week break from the top grade to recover and get his confidence back. I am so glad we have more back rowers to choose from because they were trying to make him play like a prop because they have no clue on weights and suppliments program at the EELS. I hope he trims down back to when he was 18

  • Jack..get off the pot

  • Well you make good points but they are not vaild

I certainly agree that both players didnt play their best but both were also busted up and played through injury.

The back row will certainly be

scott watmough and mau hands down, in fact I will be glad to put my balls on the chopping block that this will be the back row come round 1 unless someone gets injured.

Edwards will be slow progress as he is coming back from serious injury.

Tepai will take a step back and learn to play with these more experienced players and play less mins but be powerful with his running and defence.

I am not sure who the other 2 bench warmers will be but one suspects it will be wicks and possibly a hooker.

  • Ham and Ricky I think you've nailed it.
