A Question About Third Party Deals

A guy I work with showed me a video through Facebook of his mate who was walking down the tunnel of the SFS to a Roosters training session. It was a training session for sponsors to attend. Apparently, this guy sponsors one of the Roosters players to the sum of $25,000. I am told it is organised by the club. For this, he gets to go in a private box every game amongst other perks.

I was under the impression that the clubs were to have no part in all third-party deals and sponsors were not supposed to receive perks from the club. Yet here we have the Roosters organising and rewarding sponsors. How is this possible?

  • We did get done for providing a corporate box to sponsors as part of our cap breaches I thought.

There is up to $600k that can be sourced by club though and maybe they can be given these perks as a sponsorship arrangement.  Maybe Pooman can elaborate and let us know more about what allowed.

Maybe some people with businesses should contact other clubs saying interested in supplying TPA and leak details of how they manage them to media.

Wouldn't he hard for real journalist to do this but unfortunately bagging Fifita, guessing Haynes next move and talking bout current players being immortals takes up most of their time.

    • That’s interesting FM I didn’t know about the 600k being allowed.

i clearly remember there was a fruitier dragged into our fiasco for having been supplied game day tickets for his sponsorship...it’s laughable the nrl would deem that illegal...I mean reality is, what is the big deal in that ...why such a crime? Maybe it’s this type of nit picking that scares legal sponsors away.

but yes you are right that’s exactly what they gossip on about sometimes wonder what they would’ve done without Hayne and our club.... if Tabackoff types gonna make a big deal of ours why not others?

  • The GREAT FONG has spoken.

  • It may be part of the Roosters Marquee Player Allowance that the club can organise.

  • Our club offers individuals player sponsorship too. $18500 plus G.S.T per player.
