A PLEA FOR CALM

Hi all,

I don't always blog, but for those who know me, it's usually only because I have something that I really feel HAS to be said.  Right now is one of those times.

I've noted while doing the rounds on a few Parramatta pages that there have been calls for Parramatta supporters to do some of the following -

1) Organise a protest march to the club against the board

2) Sign an online petition of no confidence in the board.

Please, please, PLEASE Parramatta fans, for the love of all things blue and gold, DO NOT give in to any of this.

WHY?

I think we are all pretty smart and savvy people and know that a LOT of what has been written in the media about the salary cap dramas has been either "leaked" by former employees with an axe to grind against the club or worse still, expanded and fabricated by individuals withing the media, who have a platform to broadcast their anti-Parramatta agendas.

if we give in to these people and march on the club or sign a "no confidence" petition we are ONLY giving these individuals MORE fuel for their fire and rage against us .

Now let me balance this off by saying this, IF and only IF the current board ends up being found COMPLIANT and COMPLETELY GUILTY of all the accusations against them, then I will be one of the first to ask for some heads to roll.

BUT ONLY IF.

But until then, we are all going on speculation and hear-say  .  "Iv'e heard from this source"  or  "I  heard on the radio that this former employee said and so this story was related".

This sort of "evidence", hear-say wouldn't hold up in a court of law.

Please, don't let it sway what you are thinking or contemplating doing.

Stay strong in blue and gold.

Cheer the team on as they take the field.

Let the investigation run it's course . Let ALL the facts be brought to light before we pass judgement.

But most of all, just love and take in all this BRILLIANT rugby league that our team is playing.

Yours in Blue and Gold FOREVER

  • Hi DK, nice stuff mate, just out of interest have you put this blog or mentioned anything like this on your own site TCT?

    Cheers

    • Uh no.
  • Very well said DK Eel. Supporters need to be patient (as hard as that is) and just see what happens before taking any action that will just bring more negative media attention. All you can do at the moment is cheer on the team and hope for the best.
    • You are very savvy DK, I'm with you.

  • Well said DK, let's see what pans out.

  • Very well said DK.
  • Cheers well said from an X Parra boy now suffering living in Melbourne.
    • Cheers Melbourne Eel.

It's a shame that some vocal minority of people are buying into the media bad press and reacting this way.

Just look at the way the Semi payments story has been swept under the carpet.

Certain media individuals wanted to beat it up that Parramatta had made over payments to Semi.  Funnily enough the papers didn't put headlines into the fact that Parra (via D.A) had put in WRITTEN requests to the NRL to pay Semi from his following year's salary for a "compassionate payment" for him to return to Fiji to family reasons.   The NRL signed off on it and the payments were made.

ALL FULLY SIGNED OFF BY THE NRL.

But did the papers do their best to show that we did and the papers made a mistake by publishing a story based off the lies from an "insider: ??!!??

      nup!!!

Anyhoo, hope Melbourne life is treating you well and you're loving the Eels footy at the moment :D

  • Spot on DK, wait till the investigation has run its course is absolutely the right way to go.

Hope this isn't organised by the same mob that came up with the protest idea last time?
    • someone on a facebook page put together a "change.org" on-line petition.

About 70% of the respondents so far have replied "signed".

A few, like me, have asked for people to wait until the investigation is finished.

But I think Lomax would be happy as long as it is Centre in a good team."
