UPDATE: The Cupboard (chat) has been restored. From my perspective, managing the site has been a lot easier since it was removed. However, I know a lot of you, really enjoy the chat aspect of the site so please don't abuse it, and behave the same way as you would when posting to the rest of the site
ORIGINAL POST: Firstly, I've taken The Cupboard (chat) offline, with the intent of restoring it on Friday.
I'm pretty liberal with chat and especially once we into the evening, I don't mind if it gets a little more adult than the main forum, given that we clear it every night so there's generally not any inappropriate stuff on there when kids might view the site the next day. However, that doesn't mean its a free-for-all and over the past week, more than a couple of users have overstepped what I consider to be acceptable conduct in the Cupboard. It's difficult for me to understand the context of what takes place in the Cupboard after the event, so I've made the decision to simply take it offline to let people cool off.
I also want to clarify that since I returned back from my holiday we've had a few moderation changes. So for example, for the sake of site harmony, Snake volunteered to reduce his chat moderation abilities to clearing the chat only. He has not been able to suspend chat users or delete individual comments. So for those users who have complained about having chat comments deleted, or being suspended and pointing fingers, it was myself or one of the other moderators that made those decisions. If any user has any issues with moderation decisions please message me privately rather than going out and making accusations, which generally tend to be wrong any way.
On a positive note, the blog posts/forum has been great of late, so I thank you all for that. I re-iterate the rule that no user is to create blogs, images or other content that targets any other members. They will be instantly removed and multiple violations will result in a suspension, as was the case with Sinbad tonight.
I'm making this a featured blog, but closing comments so that we don't get the conversations off-topic again.
